Leica Noctilux comparison on Micro Four Thirds

The Leica Noctilux is so expensive that only a few people can afford it. So it’s quite impressive that 3Dkraft had the chance to test not one…but two different Noctilux lenses on Micro Four Thirds! He compared the qualities of the [shoplink 23018 ebay]Leica Noctilux-M 1:0.95 / 50mm[/shoplink] with its predecessor, the [shoplink 23017 ebay]Noctilux-M 1:1.0 / 50mm[/shoplink]. He tested the lenses on the GH2: “The Noctilux mounted to a micro Four Thirds camera results in an unusually balanced combination, but still appears “visually” balanced. If your camera is equipped with an electronic viewfinder providing magnification it is very helpful for precise focusing. The Noctilux 1.0 is said to have a certain focus shift on rangefinder cameras like the Leica M9, which was opimized ith the new 0.95er version. However – on cameras with electronic viewfinders this plays no role.

P.S.: Get the Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 on [shoplink 15659 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] if you want a fast lens. It’s “cheap”, has a very good image quality and is native Micro Four Thirds lens!

43rumors has some issues with google!

Share

Hi!

As you have noticed google signs this website as “dangerous”. There have been a hack attempt tonight we solved very quickly. The problem is google blocked the website. I asked google to reaccept the website but sadly  google will need a couple of hours (or even one whole day!) to reaccept the website. In summary, 43rumors has no problem at all, it’s google that is very slow in updating their servers :(

(FT5) Panasonic GF3 will use a 12 Megapixels sensor. Announcement on Monday 7am London time!

Share

And gone are the hopes that the GF3 might uses the same new [shoplink 22077]G3[/shoplink] sensor. The GF3 will use a 12 Megapixel sensors which looks likes to be the same as the one used for the [shoplink 17361]GF2[/shoplink]. The specs are the same as the GF2 (same video quality). So the GF3 is only about size reduction and nothing else.
The other news is that the new Leica 25mm and the GF3 will be announced at 7am London time on Monday. As usual I will be here to give you all the links to previews, reviews, videos and other stuff like that. As usual help is appreciated! If you find some link or something I missed drop me a line at 43rumors@gmail.com! Thanks!

(FT5) Leica 25mm f/1.4 size (FT3) will be cheaper than we all thought?

Share

I got small bits of info about the upcoming Leica 25mm f/1.4 Micro Four Thirds lens.  The lens has the same diameter as the current 20mm f/1.7 pancake which is 63mm. And the length opf the lens is 54,5mm. On the picture on top you can see a comparison with other lenses. The new Leica is 1cm shorter than the current only Leica m43 lens, the The [shoplink 14794]Panasonic 45mm macro[/shoplink]lens. The big lens is the [shoplink 16340 ebay]Four Thirds 25mm Leica[/shoplink] which uses the 43 to m43 adapter. The camera is the old nice [shoplink 14828]Panasonic GF1[/shoplink].

There is one more info I got that need to be double checked with other sources. One source “heard” that the new Leica will be cheaper than the rumored 700-800 dollar/Euro price range. Let’s hope this is true because if the lens costs around 500-600 dollars/Euro (and the image quality is top notch) I am sure it will sell like hotcakes! Reminder, the “old” Four Thirds 25mm f/1.4 had a price tag of $1100 dollars/Euro. As you know that lens has been discontinued and you can still find some Four Thirds 25mm lenses on [shoplink 16340 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

P.S.: Someone can send me a picture of the lens? Thanks! :)

Reminder -> Rumors classification explained (FT= FourThirds):
FT1=1-20% chance the rumor is correct
FT2=21-40% chance the rumor is correct
FT3=41-60% chance the rumor is correct
FT4=61-80% chance the rumor is correct
FT5=81-99% chance the rumor is correct

New Panasonic G3 review (+ new video + preorders on eBay).

Share

Panasonic G3 in Paris (made by Hybridcams.fr).

That tiny G3 is really surprising me. It’s getting a very positive feedback from reviewers and also the image samples do look very good!
The latest review is form Jeff Keller from DCresource (Click here). The first impression is very good: “The camera can be held and operated with one hand, with the most important controls within easy reach of your fingers.” but “controls are more cluttered…that led to lots of accidental button-pressing“. “Highlight clipping seemed improved over previous models…Overall, the Lumix DMC-G3 produces very good quality photos“. “The camera tends to slightly underexpose, usually be 1/3 stop. That’s easy to fix with bracketing or by just increasing the exposure compensation up a bit.”
Final words: “All things considered, the DMC-G3 retains the features that made the G-series a favorite of mine, which is why this latest iteration earns my recommendation.

First preorders are now available on [shoplink 22077 ebay]eBay too (Click here)[/shoplink]. According to Amazon UK (Click here) the G3 will be released on 17 June 2011! You can preorder the camera at Amazon US (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and Amazon Germany (Click here).
