(FT5) Full E-M5 specs leaked (via google cache)

Share

A couple of hours ago I told you that the new sensor-imaging processor produces 40% less noisy images (compared to previous PNE cameras). And Olympus uses a very weak Anti-Aliasing filter following the tendency to reduce Moire via software (the Fuji X PRO 1 and the just announced Nikon D800E  (Click here) don’t use any AA at all).In a few hours (2am London time) we will finally see if the image quality is really that good!

And finally a north american website leaked the full E-M5 specs. I found it through google cache and copied and pasted the text as I found it:

(FT5) New images and sensor info. Announcement on 2am London time. Follow us live!

Share

IMPORTANT: Olympus will announce the new E-M5 camera tonight at 2am London time (February 8). It will be 6pm in San Francisco (February 7), 9pm in New York (February 7), 3 in the morning in Berlin (February 8) and 11 in the morning in Tokyo (February 8). You can follow a live coverage on 43rumors. I will continually update you with precious info and links to reviews, videos, interesting news and preorder options. So be sure to be online at 43rumors by that hour!!!

LEAKS: There are again new leaks from Japan! On Flickr (Click here) you can find two REAL pictures of the E-M5 without the grip. UPDATE: Here on facebook is the silver version.
The Japanese store Biccamera already posted the pictures of the new E-M5 accessories:
FL-600R
eyecup EP-11
power battery holder HLD-6
MMF-3 adapter
Flash
New battery
Charger
Underwater housing (Flickr)
And there is one more size comparison made by our reader Paolo on Flickr (Click here).

NEW SENSOR INFO: The source “European Lady” (cool name!) sent me some interesting tidbits about the sensor:
1) The 16.1 Megapixel E-M5 sensor is 40% less noisy then the previous 12 megapixel sensor from the [shoplink 23568]Olympus E-P3[/shoplink].
2) Thanks to the new powerful TruePic VI engine Olympus can use a very weak AA (anti-aliasing) filter. Only the FUji X PRO 1 and the just announced Nikon D800E  (Click here) don’t use any AA filter!

Again thanks to all sources and readers for sending me info and links to leaks! I should send a bottle of good Chianti to everyone :)

(FT5) UPDATED! New Voigtländer 17.5mm f/0.95 coming in May!!!

Share

If I would have to pickup one lens (and one lens only) for my E-P1 than I would definitely pair it with the current [shoplink 15659 ebay]Voigtländer 25mm f/0.95 les (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. But if that rumor turns out to be true than holy sh..it! The Australian store Mainlinephoto (Click here) “leaked” an info about an upcoming Voigtländer Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95 Micro Four Thirds lens! According to them the lens is due in May approx price $1095.

UPDATE: Actually the picture on top shows the new lens!!! As you can see there is a difference on the focusing scale between that lens and the [shoplink 15659 ebay]25mm Nokton[/shoplink]. As noticed by our readers (thanks) there is also an extra ring. So this lens is REAL!

P.S.: Check all Nokton 25mm auctions on [shoplink 15659 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

(FT5) New (precious) Olympus E-M5 info!

Share

A super european source (Thanks Lady D.) sent me some precious info about the new E-M5 camera (Thanks!). This is her text:

1.) E-M5 has Super fast AF and “3D tracking” for “moving objects” .

2.) The camera comes with an external GN10 flash called FL-LM2, which is “weather sealed” and can be used as remote trigger (just like E-P3)

3.) There is a E-M5 Diving box coming this summer (name PT-E08). It goes 45 Meters under water, and you can use the 14-42mm II, 14-42MM IIR  or MZD 9-18mm lens. Yuo can also use MF lenses like the Zuiko ED 8mm f/3.5, the ZD 50mm f/2.0. The (exteranl) Flash that comes with the E-M5 can also be used.

4.) The MMF-3 adapter is weather sealed and has a “detachable” tripod mount. There is no info about the  focusing speed…

5.) We will be able to view the IS effect through the new EVF, and the EVF has sensor when you get close to 18mm it turns on (turns on very fast according to OLY), you will also be able to see the shutter speeds and aperture stuff just like the E-5 at the bottom of the EVF

6.) There will be two more art filters ->Dramtic Version2 and a new Version of a current filter…

7.) Video format is  MOV (MPG4 AVC, H.264). Sound is PCM. They still have the AVI (motion JPG), still not sure if the E-M5 can record at 60p, let’s also cross our fingers on this one.

8.) The two extra Fn buttons on the horizontal battery grip can be set for different functions other than the one on you have on the camera. The battery grip uses the same kind of battery of the E-M5. It’a new battery with 1220 mA! The grip can connect to an AC adapter.

9.) The FL-600R flash is a GN50 flash with much faster recover than the current FL-36R or FL-50R. It also has an extra LED light for “recording mode”, it can also fire short flashes to help focusing in low light

As I told you yesterday I was hoping for some kind of adapter for the wonderful OM lens collection. You might not know it but I counted 69 different OM lenses. [shoplink 28862 ebay]Click here to see the lenses on eBay[/shoplink]. I give you just a short version of the list with some of the nicest pieces of Glass:

(FT5) New E-M5 image with the new 75mm f/1.8 and 60mm f/2.8 macro lenses!!!

Share

On that leaked picture you can finally see the upcoming new E-M5 in all possible angles and with the new external flash (there is no built-in flash!). And for the first time you can see the new 75mm f/1.8 and 60mm f/2.8 macro lenses!!! As I told you days ago, only the macro lens is weather sealed. All new Olympus accessories, Battery grip, Four Thirds adapter and external flash are weather sealed! The camera has the fastest autofocus of all digital interchangeable market currently on market! (yeah even faster than a $5000  Nikon D4) It shoots 4fps or 9fps without that powerful AF in action. Shutter speed is 60-1/4000sec. It has an innovative five axis image stabilization, a 16 megapixel sensor (probably the same from the [shoplink 26836]Panasonic GX1[/shoplink]). It uses the powerful Truepic VI engine. ISO range goes from 200 up to 25,600 ISO. Unlike the Fuji X PRO 1 (the current preorder king) the E-M5 has a 1.44 Million dot EVF placed in the middle of the camera. The 3 inch OLED touch screen is tiltable . It records in Full HD MOV(MPEG-4AVC/H.264) format (no AVCHD 2.0). Camera dimension without grip: 122mm x 89mm x 43mm and weight 369 grams. Price of that beast: 1100 Euro or $1200.

The camera will be announced on Wednesday ( I guess it will be announced between 2-3 in the morning London time!). Stay tuned on 43rumors! You can join our group on facebook and follow our tweets. As you know I am going to sum all links to news and reviews in one single post. I will make it easy for you to not miss any interesting detail of the new camera.

One more thing: The camera with grip looks very close to the [shoplink 28231 ebay]OM-4T camera (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. I would have expected Olympus to announce a “special” adapter for [shoplink 28862 ebay]OM lenses (here on eBay)[/shoplink] but this is not going to happen :(

Oh, and second more thing :) I am surprised to read that almost two third of all readers like the new E-M5 design. That score probably beats the Fuji X PRO 1 :)

Do you like the E-M5 design?

(FT5) First Full size pictures of the E-M5!!! (via Amazon Japan)

Share

Finally that small image leak madness is over. This is the first full size picture of the upcoming new Olympus E-M5! As you see there is an external battery grip attached. It has an [shoplink 28231 ebay]OM-4T[/shoplink] like design. And here is the picture of the back (Click on it to enlarge):

This picture have been found at Amazon Japan (Click here). There is even a picture of a person with the new camera (Click here) on a polish forum!

Design opinion: As I told you yesterday the back of the camera looks a bit clunky. At the same time it looks very solid and “DSLR professional” alike. It’s a complete different approach than a Fuji X PRO 1 rangefinder design. The question now is:

Do you like the E-M5 design?
