After the fake 40-150mm lens we now also got the fake OMD rangefinder design camera :)

Share

There is someone (and it’s not me!) having fun spreading fake images on websites and forums! Yesterday we had that fake 40-150mm f/2.8 lens and today we have that fake OMD rangefinder design camera. It could be a sort of entry level OMD that is more compact than the real [shoplink 29074]Olympus E-M5[/shoplink]. I don’t really like that design. I would have taken inspiration from the [shoplink 34932 ebay]Olympus 35 series (here on eBay)[/shoplink] or the [shoplink 35221 ebay]PEN F (here on eBay)[/shoplink].

Let’s have some fun—Feel free to share your design of a “rangefinder design” camera! let’s see what you want form Olympus (or Panasonic) :)

Some remaining Cyber Monday deals. New Jackar lens in Stock.

Share

[shoplink 35206 ebay][/shoplink]

There are still some residual Cyber Monday deals left at Amazon (Click here to see them). And also the Panasonic G3 with lens for $299 at Bhphoto (Click here) deal is still onogin. One thing that surprised me is to see that the Nikon 1 cameras are the most sold mirrorless stuff during these days (here is the ranking). It did beat all the rest of the Sony/Olympus/Fuji/Panasonic deals. Nikon does nice cameras but the Nikon 1 is in my eyes a sub average system. So I am wondering if someone can explain me why they did sell so well in these days…

Anyway, let’s go back to the new Jackar 34mm f/1.8 lens that is now for sale for the first time on [shoplink 35206 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. I have been told by the makers that the design of the lens is actually almost the same of current $40  [shoplink 35035 ebay]C-mount 35mm lenses[/shoplink]. Jackar informed us that they changed some material, finishing, the ring is larger and turning has been improved. Plus the lenses are multi-coated and of course mount is NEX. Of course what you also get is that lens hood and genuine leather case you see on the picture.

Four new GH3 videos! (one of them shot on expensive CN-E lenses)

Share

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 preliminary high ISO test + new Canon CN-E prime lenses from Filippo Chiesa on Vimeo.

And here is the next bunch of GH3 videos to watch! On top you can see Filippo’s video shot with Canon’s new CN-E prime lenses. If you never heard about these lenses before just know that these are high quality lenses that can cost up to $44,000 (they are here at BHphoto). Filippo…you spend that money for CN-E lenses just to take a video of your cat? …Joking :)

Andrew from EosHD posted a new video and writes: “The Panasonic GH3 is much of an improvement on the GH2. After shooting with it properly now I can confidently say YES. The codec contains far more information than on the GH2 (hacked or not), more colour, more dynamic range, much better shadows and smoother gradation.” Andrew also dreams about a possible Panasonic Full Frame camera. But that is not going to happen…for now.

Two more videos: Nick Driftwood explains the Panasonic GH3 Basic Profiles on vimeo. Adam Mada posted that short ISO test on vimeo.

One more news: Michael Britt sent me this text: “I’m hosting the first event featuring the GH3 in the United States at Samy’s Camera Los Angeles.  Panasonic is bringing in NatGeo shooter Ira Block to show his recent video work and Samy’s will be showing and selling the first batch of GH3 cameras hitting our shores.  It’s a free event: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/4804527471/eorg

(UPDATED) First faked(!) Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 lens :(

Share

A 43rumors from Malaysia (Thanks Joo!) likely spotted the very first fake image of the new Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 lens…yep a fake! :=) This really looks too close to the current Black M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 R (here on Amazon). The aperture mark on the pictured lens says f/2.8 but it is likely that it has been modified. And that gold ring also looks a bit strange. So be warned if you see that pic on other websites and forums. It is false :(

There is one real new Cyber Deal on the Olympus 12mm lens. You save $50 on the 12mm prime at Amazon (Click here) and Bhphoto (Click here).

Today new Cyber deals roundup at Amazon (cameras), Amazon (all stuff), Adorama, Bhphoto, J&R, TigerDirect, Bestbuy and eBay. In Europe at Amazon UK and at Amazon Germany.

Olympus patent: 4/3 to m4/3 adapter with built-in autofocus and image stabilization.

Share

We all know that Olympus is seeking a solution to make Four Thirds lenses fully compatible with the Micro Four Thirds cameras. With fully compatible I mean that you can use all the 100% AF speed of the lenses. And one of the solution may be the one you see as image here on top. It shows a new Olympus Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds adapter with built-in autofocus and image stabilization. While I am not surprised to see the autofocus function you may wonder why there is an image stabilization system. Egami (translation here) explains that the in body stabilization has the disadvantage that you cannot adapt it on the kind of lens you are using.

Anyway, at that point I remember that one source told me that some kind of special adapter would be released soon. It may uses the technology we see here?

P.S.: Some refurbished High Qulaity Zuiko lens for sale on eBay (via Slidoo).

Thanks Manuel for sending me the link!

Stained Glass, Bare Wood (GH3 test shoot) from Mike Ritchie on Vimeo.

A couple of 43rumors readers sent me some link to their own GH3 test. And it’s my pleasure to link to you guys! On top you see the video shot by Mike. Toby is the first guy posting some GH3 HDR shots on Flickr. And Tommy posted a ‘Quick Play’ hands-on. EosHD posted that shootout with many cameras including the GH3.

As I told you on Saturday the camera is (surprise surprise) already shipping in Europe via Wex Germany (Click here) and Wexphotographic UK.
