Af test with the Tamron 14-150mm. Pity it will NEVER be released :(

Share

This is the first time we post an AF test video of a MFT lens that Tamron decided to NOT release :(
The video has been posted by Dicahub and he also confirmed that Tamron withdraw the lens release. It means you can stop checking the Tamron 14-150mm MFT BHphoto page to see when the lens will ship :)

Reminder: Like I told you before Tamron will not release that lens because they said (unofficially) that it makes no sense to make stabilized lenses seeing that also Panasonic will offer more on sensor stabilization cameras in future.

Samyang launches the likely last Four Thirds mount lens ever.

Share

I completely forgot to mention that Samyang also announced a new 300mm  f/6.3 mirror lens which will also be sold with Four Thirds mount! This could be the last FT lens ever made by a company seen that Olympus doesn’t plan to make any FT camera anymore!

DicaHub (translated) also got word from Samyang that six of their brand names will be gone soon keeping only Samyang and Rokinon (brand popular in US). These are all their current names (with lens list on eBay): [shoplink 20647 ebay]Samyang [/shoplink], [shoplink 20684 ebay]Walimex [/shoplink], [shoplink 20649 ebay]Rokinon [/shoplink], [shoplink 20650 ebay]Opteka [/shoplink], [shoplink 20651 ebay]Falcon [/shoplink], [shoplink 20653 ebay]Vivitar [/shoplink] and[shoplink 20652 ebay]Bower [/shoplink].

GH4 preorders now shipping at Amazon and Digitalrev too. First owners reports. And Spectacular new video.

Budapest Cityscape from Joe Simon Films on Vimeo.

Many readers told me that their Gh4 preorder has now been shipped via Amazon US (Click here). And the camera is still marked as in Stock at Amazon (via Cameta), BHphoto (Click here), Digitalrev (Click here) and Cameta (Click here). For now I have no reports from European or Asian stores having the camera in Stock. And here are the first new owner reports:

Eric Naso writes:

The EVF is so very nice. It’s OLED and really sharp. it doesn’t have the distortion in the corners like the GH3 did. At least I feel it didnt. I did do a rolling shutter test and it’s better. I scratched the surface and shared a few of the features I like. Is the GH4 worth upgrading to from a GH3? I think so. The internal 4K alone is such a big deal and image is very good.

Noam Kroll writes:

All of the issues that I had with the GH3 have largely been resolved with this new camera, most notably the terrible LCD and LVF that desperately needed updating. Overall I definitely recommend this camera if you’re doing any sort of narrative, documentary, or small broadcast project that requires an extremely high quality image with a small footprint, not to mention the fact that you can also get some incredible stills on this camera makes it even more versatile as well.

(FT5) There will be no new Panasonic G7 this year!

Share

Image on top shows the current G6.

A couple of weeks ago I told you the GF7 will NOT be released this year. Well, here I have the next surprising news I got this from two sources: Panasonic decided to not release any G6 successor this year neither! They will discount the GH3 instead. The reason why there will be no G7 is due the poor sales of the G6.

Panasonic will focus on the GH, GM and GX line! You tell me if that’s a smart move…

Good news: Panasonic reports first profit in three years!

Share

There is a good and a bad news you can read within the latest Panasonic financial report (download the pdf here):
Good news: Panasonic reported the first annual profit in three years And they expect another 16% income increase by 2015
Bad news: The AVC segment which includes cameras, sensors, tablets and so on is the weakest segment showing a loss compared to 2013. But nevertheless Panasonic expects things to go better here too.

As you know Panasonic said they will drop business not having at least a 5% profit by end 2015. So let’s hope the GH4 will sell well ! And according to my sources this is happening :)
