E-M5II rumors so far….will you buy it?

Share

The Pixel shift tech from the Hasselblad H5D-200c. Something similar is coming from Olympus.

I am 95% sure that the latest info on the E-M5II are correct. The camera will be announced in early February and so far it’s rumored to have one single main fetaure:  The camera has a 16 Megapixel sensor that can shoot up to 40 Megapixel by shifting the sensor (in up to 8 frames of single shots).

For the rest the camera didn’t change a lot from the previous E-M5 model:
Same E-M5 16MP sensor
Update processor (improves slightly the IQ)
No PDAF
Smaller design changes
Improved 5 axis stabilization

Based on those early and still incomplete rumors I ask you:

Would you buy the E-M5II?

First look on the new Veydra Mini Primes for Micro Four Thirds.

Share

ProVideocoaltition (Click here) is the first site testing the new Veydra MFT Cine lenses:

If I had to describe Veydras in one pithy phrase, I’d say, “scaled-down Ultra Primes for micro four thirds cameras”. They’re sharp, rectilinear, and clean: good, workmanlike optics with no nasty surprises.
They aren’t the fastest lenses available, but they also avoid the soft, soapy renderings you get WFO on lenses like Super Speeds, Rokinon T1.5s, and Nokton f/0.95s: you can shoot these puppies wide open and intercut them with T5.6 shots from the same lenses and not worry about a substantial change in the look.

(FT5) Olympus E-M5II name gets officially registered in Taiwan!

Share

ncc_oly_e-m5II_001

Digicameinfo spotted that Olympus officially registered the name of the new E-M5II camera at Taiwan’s Nccmember.ncc.gov.tw site. This means our rumors are 100% correct as we reported the name of the camera weeks ago along some crucial info like:

same 16 MP E-M5 sensor
sensor shift shooting mode to create up to 40MP on the fly with up to 8 images combined
no 4K recording (but improved video quality over the E-M5)
announcement first week of February

One more thing: There will be one more Olympus camera announced before CP+. Likely a fixed lens one.
