Olympus 300mm test by Warren Fleming on Olympus MAG (free download).

The January Olympusmag UK issue has been released (download the PDF here). And there is an article by Warren Fleming about the new 300mm PRO lens. He writes:

“I managed to test the IS down to a fifth of a second handheld in order to get sharp images – which is incredible”

The 300mm PRO lens is probably the best lens ever made for those who need a 600mm lens they can use handheld. There is probably no other lens on the world that can do this.

The Olympus E-M5 now sells for $379 at BHphoto (Click here). The camera now turns exactly four years old. Back in February 2012 when it was announced the official price was $1,299.

Thew new Kipon Baveyes focal length reducer adapter for OM anc C/Y lenses is now in Stock!

Kipon announced it’s now shipping the new Baveyes OM and C/Y adapters. You can buy the [shoplink 58003 ebay]OM to MFT Baveye on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and also the [shoplink 58004 ebay]C/Y adapter on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

By using that adpater you gain 1 stop aperture with 0,7x focal length reduction. Kipon writes:
If you want to use the 50mm lens: 50mm × 2x (Micro Four Thirds focus magnification) × 0.7x (BAVEYES focus magnification) = 70mm angle of view equivalent
If you want to use the 35mm lens: 35mm × 2x (Micro Four Thirds focus magnification) × 0.7x (BAVEYES focus magnification) = 49mm angle of view equivalent

Olympus 300mm PRO tested at Photoreview: “top-notch lens for serious photographers”

Photoreview tested the new 300mm PRO lens and writes:

Airlines around the world have become stricter about monitoring and enforcing carry-on limits recently, making equipment weight an important consideration for photographers who travel. With Olympus equipment, you can easily put together a kit containing two camera bodies, the 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO and lens 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO lens at a total weight of well under 3.5 kilograms. Do the same with either Canon or Nikon DSLRs and lenses and the weight will be pushing the 7 KG carry-on limit.
While it may be Olympus’s most expensive M4/3 lens, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO is a top-notch lens for serious photographers who photograph sports, wildlife and also stage performances. It’s usable in challenging weather, fast enough for low-light shooting and offers impressive close-up capabilities. What’s not to like?

PEN-F sales ranking at Amazon US and DE: US like it Black and Germans like it Silver.

Short question: How are PEN-F preorder going?

According to Amazon US rankings (Click here) the Black PEN-F sells better than the Silver one. Both have strong sales but still didn’t manage to dethrone the A6000. But of course the Sony is sold in one color only.

On the other side of the world Amazon Germany rankings (Click here) shows that the Silver version is definitely selling better than the Black one.

Of course Amazon rankings are non conclusive. But still it’s the only way we have yet to see if a camera is popular or not.
