UPDATE: E-5 is back in store

UPDATE: Today readers found that Olympus official european stores didn’t list any Four Thirds camera anymore. But Olympus just sent us that following statement:
“We took E-5 off the shop as we had too many orders.
The shop is quite new and technically it is not so easy to stop the order taking.
We have so many orders now, that we’re not able to supply the new orders in a decent delivery time.
So we decided to take it off for some days/weeks.
E-5 is very successful and we plan a long life cycle for this product.
And again, we will stop our SLR business only in case we will be able to provide similar qualities in MFT.”
Check the Olympus Germany store: http://shop.olympus.de/e_commerce/univers.cfm?tri=news&cat_id=17
The E-5 stock status at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

12 months ago |Strange. E-P2 is still on offer with more kit options than ever before. Which camera does the E-P3 replace? Will its name really be E-P3 or perhaps something different (E-OM1
)?

12 months ago |“Not even the new Olympus E-5!”
Strange.
Maybe June is the month Olympus finally shows its cards. Let’s hope they stick to the promise there will always be a body for 4/3 lenses.

12 months ago |Some e-xxx series are still there, but much hidden http://shop.olympus.de/e_commerce/gehause-kits/olympus/e-520-p-522-c-59.htm
Edit: nope, only accessories… even more weird.

12 months ago |No, that link shows the accessories.

12 months ago |Hi
I just visited the site with the given link in the rumor: http://shop.olympus.de/e_commerce/univers.cfm?tri=news&cat_id=17 and searched there for e-5. It is listet for Euro 1.9999.-. So stay cool please!
Cheers
admin
12 months ago |Hi Emilisig! Yes you can find the E-5 when you perform the search. But if you do list all cameras without to perform the search than you can’t find any 43 camera! So normal visitors will NOT see any 43 camera. Only if you search for the E-5 you will find it. That’s the weird thing!

12 months ago |These tabloid-style headlines are getting a bit too much. Please dial them down a notch or at least do some further research. The link given is to the German website which appears to still list the E-series (E-5, E-30, E-620…) as active, they just don’t offer it through their store. However, the US store has the E-5 and also shows the E-series as active (same with the Hong Kong site and probably others). Perhaps Olympus should be like the Panasonic store and list items for sale but have them perpetually backordered!

12 months ago |In this shop the e-P2 is gone. The last one can be bought for €389. (scroll down)
Guess they are cleaning up for the new pen

12 months ago |Do you really think will continue to play the game? My bet is that they’ll stop selling the PENs as well. Do you really believe those rumors about PRO pen and bright lenses. Cmon, with such an overpriced stuff, lack of innovation, inability to get any decent sensor and terrible financial results I wouldn’t be surprised if they quit the market instead of developing more needless toys. I’m saying all this with 3 oly cameras in my backpack…sadly…

12 months ago |Now this is a rumor: Olympus is pulling out of M43 and moving back into four-thirds.

E-P3 and E-5 are defenetely not for the same shooter.

12 months ago |No need to jump to such conclusions.
Olympus America has the E-5 available and in stock on their Edesk personal purchase program. Edesk only shows product that is in ample supply since dealers have priority on stock, not employees.
Is there a difference between a rumor of a fire and actually screaming fire?
Kbo
12 months ago |I love my E-5, I sure hope that they will keep it for a couple of years.
Or..
That all of you sell the 4/3 gear of lenses for a 1/10th of the price to me.
LeoLensen
12 months ago |Yeah, I could use a 12-60mm for a 1/10th of the prize!
Scott
12 months ago |The E-5 is the most under rated camera on the market right now.
alsoly
12 months ago |Well When you click on the link you have put up ( “official Olypus store” and click on ” spiegel reflex” you do get directly to the E5. THis seems to be a misinformation. The E5 have been sold out on the online shop for some time an as far as I know also difficult to obtain anywhere else, but I received mine a few weeks ago and it would appear, that Olympus again has it in sufficient stock ( even despite the earthquake and tsunami).

12 months ago |Hi the E5 is on the second page–no search necessary…but very $$$ here in Denmark its Euro 1600!!!
Kbo
12 months ago |Shanti, just go and get it, you wont regret it a second.
I just got my first prints from it, 50cm x 70cm, cropped image and using the 150mm macro, still it’s amazing how good it is!

12 months ago |Is the E-5 under rated, over priced, or both?
I’m sure it’s capable of taking great pics, but I’m not sure it represents much of a leap forward from the E-3 (which was offered with a 12-60 SWD) for the same price as the E-5 body only right?
I’ll have to get my OGPS application in and see if they’ll let me test drive one…
Scott
12 months ago |I didnt think it was over priced at all. It is leaps over the E-3. My wife had and E-3 and she shot with my E-5 for 2 days and ordered her one the next day.
