Olympus E-PL2 tested at Digitalcamerareview (+GF2 and E-5 reviews)

Share

CNET Australia tested the new Panasonic GF2: “Panasonic’s second compact interchangeable lens camera won’t disappoint new users with its sleek footprint and very good image quality. It’s those looking to upgrade who might be left feeling a tad disappointed, particularly compared to the strong offerings from other manufacturers in the same space.” The reviewer gave the camera 8.3 out of 10 points.

Digitalcamerareview posted their new Olympus E-PL2 test results: “Can I honestly recommend that current E-PL1 owners “upgrade” to the E-PL2? No. However, if you’re currently shopping for a new camera there are plenty of reasons to consider this one. The E-PL2 offers a small, light camera and plenty of features at a competitive price. ” The E-PL2 gets 3.5/5 points.

And ThePhoBlographer compared the Olympus E-5, Pentax K5, Canon 7D, Nikon D300s. That’s what he thinks about the E-5: “The punchiest colors by far, but the worst dynamic range. This was a major disappointment for me as I’m a former Olympus user.

  • E5 review link doesn’t work.

    • CKDexterHaven

Suppressed by dpreview oly forum users–negative reviews not allowed! : )

      • Working now – maybe it was just a glitch on my PC.

  • Admin, I am using the new release candidate of internet explorer 9 and there are some display issues with your website… just thought you’d like to know.

  • George

One more time Oly got shot down. Everything about Oly is a huuugggeee joke now.

Again sell all your Oly gear before it is too late.

Oly going down, accept it or not.

    Sorry but it is true

    • So… I presume you have sold your gear already? What are you doing here then??

  • > And ThePhoBlographer compared the Olympus E-5, Pentax K5, Canon 7D, Nikon D300s.

Hands down, the best camera review I have ever read – by far.

  • Neonart

    1) Who do you work for George? Nikon? Canon? What’s the deal dude? Did Olympus take your MySpace friends? You roam and post on a site that has nothing to do with you, only to post negative junk. Seriously man…

    2) I feel the E5 comparison was good. It was praised where they found it to be good, but the K5 and 7D are great rigs. Doesn’t make me want to sell my gear or nothing. There’s always something better than what you own you know…

    • Scott

Better is relitive. Oh and by the way. dpreview clearly shows the E5 has better dynamic range than the 7d. You cant be the best at everything and with shg 2.0 glass we dont need the extra hi ISO

  • Kevin

perhaps george is a 4/3 user w/ many oly lenses and just hates olympus now for abandoning him and his investment

    • Spoo

There’s no explaining it. George is just an asshat.

  • pdc

How about keeping the tone civil?

Be patient until March/April. The fog is bound to lift by then.

    • Rocky

The fog? do you know something about 4/3rd.

Maybe I am wrong but I never notice bashing of Panasonic products…

  • Ross

Here is DP’s review of the EPL-2 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympusepl2/ even though it is called a preview.

    Cheers,
    Ross
