Olympus E-PL2 in color! Looks damn cool!
What a surprise. Olympus has taken the Pentax approach and created the colored E-PL2 cameras. The website civic.alum.hk published those pictures (Click on them to enlarge).

The E-PL2 beats or equals the E-P1/2 in every spec with the possible exception of build material, so do you consider that Olympus hasn’t made a single m43 serious camera yet?
Oh wait… You’re probably right!

2 years ago |Hm, are you sure this is not just something like Colorware?
I admit, my Traditional Han is a bit rusty, but still…
I like the looks of the black E-PL2 and even the way it almost looks like an oversized P&S in silver (could be useful in a no professional camera zone), but I don’t quite get any other colours – not on the E-PLx nor on the G2 (or the GFx for that matter)

‘they’ already know what user need they not really to bring those things in. In this round, oly knows what ladies need lol
I feel that majority of the manufacturers doesn’t like to dominate the market by introduced soso concept camera. In the past i felt d90 did the great job and it stand so long. its sell like a hotcake all the time. It took so long for Nikon to release another camera which is good approach since the built are alr few spec advanced than the other competitors that keep ‘you’ always appeared in the user mind when they want to purchase a camera.
Continue in this way just like a short term rally game, today O released 2 models, few month later you C released few models, another few months, S released few models, the game keep going. boring & tired…
btw, admin alr did good job as promptly keep fresh news to the readers

Damn right!
“The E-PLX serie was never a serious camera.”
I would add a “meant”…Some are using it as a serious camera, because the image quality is good enough to beat other bigger cameras

2 years ago |Well. I noticed that the middle white one (with red and blue) is a Bandai Anime Gundam Theme based design. I noticed the symbol of the Earth Federation Space Force there.
So, I am guessing that these might be just sticker. Otherwise, Olympus must have partnership and copyright to make Bandai theme based Camera.

2 years ago |It is definitely inspired by Pentax K-x. In Japan, K-x is sold in more than 100 customizable color. It’s not limited edition, but regular choice. It actually proved to be one of the most contributing factors to the successful sales of K-x in Japan. But like Pentax, I don’t think Olympus will release E-PL2 with customizable color in the western hemisphere. Well… if you read above comments, you can tell why.

2 years ago |It pretty obvious that these Pens are just rehashed EPL-1, targeted at Japanese Gen Y who care more about pretty colours than camera performance or image quality.
I just spent six months living/working in Japan. I was so dissapointed at how ignorant many Japanese are about photography. Considering their electronic industry designs and manufacturers about 80% of the world cameras.
I ecountered people of both genders, all ages, different educational and vocational backgrounds. Even the sales staff in some of the big camera retailers, including reps, knew very little.
This ingorance makes me nervous, since the marketing executives will be pitching their future products to such ignorance.
So when is Olympus going to get serious about m4/3rds or 4/3rds for that matter if it still exists as a format?
Why don’t they build a new and improved camera with some real innovation.
For example, why not drop in an oversized Sigma Foeveon 1.5x image sensor into a new Pro level m4/3rds camera?
They already offer multi aspect ratio as a scale down from a native 4/3rds image sensor.
Why not also offer a native scale up via the sensor without cropping?
They can use it for existing m4/3rds and 4/3rds lenses with a scaled down 4/3 image ratio and also offer an interface (with full AF support) for existing Sigma lenses that fit the APS-C mount via an adpator or through some other modular design.
After all the new Sigma SD-1 sports the same 11 point bi-axial AF system as the Olympus E-5. Possibly Sigma purchased it from the same third party vendor as Olympus. Or it may very well be that it was purchased by Sigma from Olympus.
Olympus need to stick with Phase Detection AF. Why don’t they try a fixed, pellicle-type semi-translucent mirror system, ala Sony STL-55?
And implement a dual or hybrid system with a vastly improved Contrast AF system.
Then include a flip out / articulating screen in a environmentally sealed body.
They already have the detectable high res EVF from the EP-L1.
