Olympus E-5 and Panasonic LX5 firmware update.
Today it’s firmware update party! Also Olympus announced a new Olympus E-5 firmware: “Firmware version 1.2 ensures the movement of the dial on the optional HLD-4 battery grip matches the movement of the selected AF point.“. It is not a Micro Four Thirds camera but many on 43rumors do own it and the news is worthy to be posted 
Panasonic released a major firmware upgrade for the Panasonic LX5 high end compact camera. You can download it here: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/download/LX5/index.html
The main changes are:
Auto Focus speed-up.
[HIGH ISO NR] has been added to the [REC] menu.
Improved auto white balance performance.
[ACTIVE MODE] has been added to the [MOTION PICTURE] menu.
The AF/AE Lock operated by half-pressing the shutter button has been improved.
When [MF] is set, you can make fine adjustments to the focus using a simpler operation than before.
The position and size of the AF area you have set are now stored.
The upper limit of the shutter speed in Manual Exposure Mode has been raised. (Max 250 seconds approximately)
[MINIATURE EFFECT] has been added to My Colour Mode.
[MONITOR] / [VIEWFINDER] has been added to the [SETUP] menu.

2 years ago |Wow, now it is boring, if you don’t buy a beta-version kamera and have to update it every week.
Olympus makes the job before they own the money with the kamera.

2 years ago |With the LX5 Panasonic show that they understand how to support a compact camera. Olympus need to step up to the plate and fix the XZ-1 issues and show the same.

2 years ago |LX5 Owner here. Autofocus is definitely improved. Pulling numbers out of thin air, I would say at least 25% faster. At least.
Don’t really care about the other updates though, but I wished I had the electronic viewfinder…

2 years ago |Means that you can release the shutter half-way in the reverse direction after taking the shot and you shall not lose the AF/AE lock.

2 years ago |I’ve been waiting for an LX5 firmware update! I haven’t really got the chance to use my camera recently so I don’t notice much difference. However:
Did they add the ‘LCD Display’ menu item in Setup? It lets you adjust the screen’s brightness, saturation, red tint and blue tint. I don’t remember it being there before
Also, when changing things like ISO items, the little pop up menu has a new animation.
