4 years ago |12-40 is a bit short while 12-60 a bit heavy! Why not a 12-45 or 12-50? (f2.8 at least)

4 years ago |12-40mm f/2.8 is the only one I voted for and probably the only zoom I’d consider buying. As long as it wasn’t much more then $1k.
From previous experience with zooms of this range, I end up doing 90% of my shooting at either end. I’d be just as well off with a 12mm and a 40mm. Time to switch lenses, for me, is a decent trade off for portability.

4 years ago |i vote that they not make any zooms at all. i would rather see primes. there isn’t a lens on here that would appeal to me. even the ones that say tiny are huge compared to a pancake.

4 years ago |I voted for the 10-20mm f/4.0, on the theory that it would be considerably cheaper than Panasonic’s 7-14, and I don’t really need the extreme wide angle. I really don’t get the point of the 7-14mm f/4.5 idea; as the Panasonic 7-14 lens is already tiny, smaller (aside from the integrated hood) than the very compact 14-45 kit zoom. Would that 1/3 stop difference make the lens significantly cheaper?
My other votes were for the 14-70 f/2.5-3.5 and 70-300 f/4.5-5.6. My hope is that the former could be made no bigger than the 45-200 zoom, but that may be optimistic. I’d love a little more reach than the 14-45, and a bit faster maximum aperture.

4 years ago |I am missing something like a 50-200mm 1:2.8-3.5 lens (which is currently offered by Olympus in the pro series). I think it makes a good set with the 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 and with the 6-12mm 1:2.8.
I voted for the 70-300mm f/2.8-4.0 instead, because this seemed to be the best replacement.
Would you please add a 50-200mm 1:2.8-3.5 lens to the poll?

4 years ago |There are 45 zooms on this list, most of them very similar to each other. Can we re-launch the poll using a consolidated list as suggested by someone in a previous post? I went through the list and found that all the variations are based on about 15-16 distinct lenses:
UWA Zoom
7-14/2.8
7-14/4.5 (tiny)
WA Zoom
10-20/2.8-3.5
10-20/4 (tiny)
Standard Zoom
12-35/2.0-2.8 (fast)
12-35/4 (tiny)
14-45/2.8 (fast)
Extended Zoom
12-60/2.8-4
12-70/4-5.6 (tiny)
Superzoom
12-140/4-5.6
Portrait Zoom
28-75/2.8
Tele Zoom
40-150/4-5.6
50-200/3.5-4.5
Macro Zoom
50-150/2.8-4 macro
Super Tele Zoom
70-300/2.8-4
80-400/4-5.6
Suggest this as a revised poll… what do you think?

4 years ago |Hi Milan and Shawn!
Milan, I aded the 50-200mm 1:2.8-3.5 lens (at the time we have 464 voters and we will use a multiplying factor after knowing the final total voters)
Shawn, I havn’t made the list. I toke the suggestions made by others. I agree with you the list could be easier and not that long but It is difficoult to make the right selection. But I can’t redo the poll now. Don’t be worry Olympus and Panasonic will group the results and not see every lens as a different one! So in fact they will make the job you have done!

4 years ago |I think it is interesting to have all the possibilies to vote for every lenses separately even if there are only tiny differences between the lenses. However, It would be really nice to group and present the final results as proposed by Shawn to see which kind of range is really needed by the users. I think that the 9 groups (UWA-WA-Standard-Extended-Superzoom-Portrait-Macro-Supertele) which are proposed here by Shawn make really sense.

3 years ago |I’d be interested in a 2.4-3.5/12.5-50mm mFT
[=25-100mm in 35mm eq.]
Has to be with a sunhood (unlike Zuiko mFT 14-42) !!
