Olympus 14-150mm lens review (+ new Voigtländer in Stock on eBay)
Photographyblog heavily tested the Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 lens. The lens performance is verz good: “It has left us with a favourable overall impression.“…”you can safely use it wide open or stopped down by one f-stop“…”Chromatic aberrations can be a bit of an issue at longer focal lengths, but they can usually be dealt with in post processing.”
That lens is in Stock at Amazon (Click here) with a $120 discount.
There are also a few new tests with the Voigtländer:
Mike Kobal tested the Lensbaby Composer and Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 on the Panasonic GH1. And he also posted a Super Slow Motion test.
TheBlackStar posted a few image samples on Flickr and Dreesman at Dpreview forum.
If you want to buy the lens there is one single Voigtländer Nokton in Stock on eBay (Click here) sold via german resellers (UPDATE: Lens sold)

Looks like the Voightländer is “out of stock” again, or at least not listed for us Americans. Something tells me I won’t be getting one for xmas. ;^|

Starting at 28 mm and ending at 300 mm 35mm equivalent, it goes exactly in the wrong direction like all the other lenses already available from Panasonic and Olympus. If it would have added just a tad in the wide direction, extending to 24 mm, while chopping off some of the tele range, say down to 250 mm, if necessary, it would have been far more versatile for most photographers except for those select few dealing with wildlife, sports, and a few other specialties.

2 years ago |I personally need the 300mm at the long end for my little 2 year old in the park! I would find it more useful than having a lens that would start at 24mm. IMHO the larger you can make the telephoto end for me, the better!

I arrived to the same conclusion years ago and said bye-bye to cheesy consumer zooms and switched to prime telephoto, in my case the venerable Tamron 180/2.5 and Oly 1.4x teleconverter (that was with a 35mm film camera). The increased optical quality and 2-3 stops of light that you gain is priceless.
I understand the marketing lure of all-inclusive-zooms to the general public, but please please Olympus and Panasonic, could we also have a moderately bright, compact and affordable m4/3 telephoto along the lines of 100/2.8, 135/2.8 or 150/2.8?? And a 1.4x teleconverter?

2 years ago |It’s a great lens for less-than-pro photographers though. I’m certainly looking at the E-PL1 + 14-150mm + 20mm Pana as a do everything 2 lens system, with the ability to be truly pocketable with the 20mm, and cover superzoom range with the 14-150mm. Can you name another 28-300 interchangeable lens that will easily fit in a coat/cargo pants pocket?
Zaph
2 years ago |And not just fit, but be easily carried too (that is, without your pants falling down). The Pana 45-200mm is bigger, and 1/2 a kg. At 260g, it’s not going to weigh you down.

2 years ago |From 38-380 mm camera, I’ve gone to 28-420 and then down to 25-250 mm and I feel very constrained. 25 mm end is often too distorted, especially for close subjects, while 250 mm is definitely not enough. 28 mm is more useful for me than 24 and I’m sorry Panasonic has sacrificed the speed of its 12 mm F2.5 prime for compactness.

2 years ago |Actually, I like the 14-150mm for its portability and its usefulness on the E-P2. What I would like, however, is a 12-50 or 12-60 (high quality comparable to the Oly 12-60, but with image stabilization) to complement the very good Panasonic 100-300mm.

2 years ago |Yosemite: I can see your point. But name another company that is producing a 10x zoom that starts at 24mm. Rather than representing “just another failure,” I think this lens is a revelation: the world’s smallest and lightest superzoom with remarkable sharpness and contrast over much of its range.
