2 years ago |That’s very good news. Is there any word on if Nokton / Voigtländer will bring another lens to m43? Maybe something in the 60-70mm range … that is definitely still missing in the lens lineup.

2 years ago |Hmmm… I keep and keep thinking. The only reason I would buy this (otherwise great) lens for is to have shallow DOF.
But I can have even shallower DOF buying a cheap, but good quality “standard” lens of F1.4 (e.g. Auto Revuenon 55/1.4 or Super Takumar 50/1.4)!
So don’t buy this lens unless you know exactly what do you want. Otherwise use a decent 50/F1.4, just double the ISO speed – and you’ll get exactly the same result for even less than 100$…

2 years ago |I have not seen another lens that can replicate the results of the Nokton 25. Of course, it’s a normal prime with limited DOF control (unless you get close to your subject), but there is more to a lens than subject separation. The Nokton has real character.

2 years ago |I know, guys, that you hate me when I speak about snobbery, but the better a lens the less “character” it has.
Exactly like a beer. The really good (German) beer is the one which has absolutely no additives, no additional flavours – it’s “just” a beer.
A good lens has nothing to do but render as realistic as it’s possible (smooth bokeh, sharp focus, god resolution, minimal distortion/aberration). It’s up to the photographer (artist?) to give “character” to the picture taken.

2 years ago |I’ve found that since the Lumix/Leica 25mm f.1.4 has been introduced at a price of $600, with AF, my desire for the Nokton has weakened somewhat…
But it would still make a great lens for video.
