Panasonic GF3 Hands-on Review by Digitalrev.
Pocket-Lint (Click here) tested the GF3: “Whilst the GF3 might not include everything we would have put on our wish list, for those making the step up from a point and shoot camera for the first time, this GF series Lumix is its most accessible yet. Plus, for any new users what it doesn’t offer in comparison to its predecessors won’t be missed”.
Cnet Asia (Click here) tested the new Panasonic G3: “Panasonic has impressed us with the G3′s sleek downsized chassis, but the touchscreen interface could have been more responsive“…”Though the G3 does have its quirks, the new camera offers good image quality and improved noise performance at higher ISO settings.”
The polish website with the so complicated name “Optyczne” (Click here) posted their G3 review: “After the test we have mixed feelings. On one hand, the camera offers very good image quality and low noise over a wide range of sensitivity, on the other hand, however, falls quite poorly in terms of tonal range. (google translation from polish)”

2 years ago |I think the GF-3 is a winner. As said in the review, it’s weird… but if you happen to like the ergonomic decisions, and need a fast street shooter, you really can’t beat it. E-P3 is also a winner, but the nod has to go to the 14mm lens which seems to suit the m43 body style, and is much more compact than the 12 2.0 Oly.
Kudos to Digital Rev for debunking the Oly “FAST” af system. Panasonic doesn’t even brag and their system is just as fast.

2 years ago |If I am not mistaken Oly claims that its FAST AF is especially fast only with its new specially designed lenses, so it is no surprise it is only fraction better (than gf3) with some Pana lens.
In other words, there is no way Pana system is “just as fast”.

Smaller than the LX5?!! That’s pretty small! And cute. I still think it’ll be a nice match for the 20mm.
Panasonic did all their shouting about ultra fast focus already, so it’s amusing to see it’s at least as a fast as the Oly. (@dimka … I’m glad you did all those exhaustive tests) AF speed is a moot point.
The slippery body does seem questionable. A few pieces of hockey stick tape will fix that!
So, when do we see them in the US?

2 years ago |No need for anyone to do any exhaustive tests, just listen to what testers around the World say (thanks to www). Out of context, with no proof claims are no help to anyone. One can justify his purchase in other way.
PS I a not any brand lover and G3 AF fastness is enough for me. DigitalRev af test is very interesting, by the way.

“It’s beautiful!”

Thanks for all of you – discussions on m43rumors helped me a lot to make the final decision and enter in m43 owners’ club.
Special thanks to Admin!

2 years ago |Hi!
G3 is out of stock for 699 $ in US. Is it supply shortages or Pana prioratises Asia and Europe because of better exchange rates?
Any ideas when it will be back in stock?

2 years ago |Completely agree with the assessment on ergonomics. I handled the GF3 in the store, and I couldn’t get my hands to fit right. I think it’s made for a different demographic than tall men with long fingers and big palms. Heck, the GH1 is on the ‘too small’ side for me. Something like the E-5/K-5 fits just right. Wish there was a mirrorless equivalent of either one.

2 years ago |Yep, it seems more kawaii girlie sized.
To get a decent grip, I guess you need to go analogue and hold the lens, just like you would with a 35mm SLR. Can’t wait to see a photo of the GF3 with a 14-140mm or 100-300mm lens on it!
