6 months ago |I would buy an E-M5 and the 75mm f/1.8 right now.
If I didn’t live in Europe.

6 months ago |What about $150 off the hand grip for current owners of the E-M5? I’d buy that.

6 months ago |That’s really tempting. I have a friend in the US to do the buying too. So……E-M5, 9-18mm & the 60mm macro would nicely round out my current lenses, and upgrade the E-PL1.
Problem is, there is always the “next big thing” around the corner. And, to me, it will be really big: a m43 body that will add PDAF to the already high performance of the E-M5. Then they will start producing the long fast glass so many have been clamouring for, and the E-M5 owners will whine because their camera won’t optimize that glass…….
So, thanks for the deal Olly, but for the moment I’ll “just” take the 9-18mm.

6 months ago |Olympus is a punk. They only care to get new customers. What about us folks who have an EM5 already. How about giving some of us discounts for supporting you in the first place. Be out of business by now if it waren’t for us em5 adopters.

6 months ago |Oly is a double punk coz the best deals are only available to the US market which gets lower prices than the EU market in the first place

6 months ago |For many years, companies have increasingly been following a new business model that values gaining new customers over keeping old customers. This model presumes a “growing market” (which we may not have any longer). That’s why we see so many discounts for services and products (first 6 months or year at a reduced rate) in a variety of fields. The old customers are subsidizing the discounts whith which the new customers are baited.

6 months ago |I strongly doubt this is new. Early adapters always pay a premium, because companies try to recoup their development costs early. This has been true for all of the almost half a century that I’ve been walking this planet, and probably quite a bit longer.
Don’t like it? don’t buy early.
But you do get something for that extra fee, as all that time until the price gets reduced, you already have been able to use the product, while those waiting for the reduction haven’t been able to.
This is totally unrelated to the ‘new customers over old customers’, and really, there are ‘new customers’ to be had with a new product as well, so logically it makes little sense to connect the 2.

6 months ago |Hey, With all the offers out there is anyone thinking a new upgraded model will be coming out in the near future? E-M5+???

6 months ago |I’d jump once they add 17/1.8 to their list of lenses.

Until I can buy a black lens without a premium scam added I refuse to buy any Olympus lenses or any more of their bodies, As fast as they got me to but the EM-5 they made me decide to not buy their lenses because of their BS marketing.
