Looks good. I went through the exchange process, paid SLR Magic, both my old 1.7 and 1.4 are in Hong Kong, one going, one coming. Hopefully ‘soon come’ as Rastas would say.

      Taken from DPreview:
My SLR Magic HyperPrime LM 50mm T0.95 Review!
      http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50056416

In some of the recent news on SLR Magic manufacturing the Hyperprime T/0.95 lens, shows they have excellent image quality, BUT extremely poor build quality using glue (loctite) in place of essential screw(s). I highly deter from this company. They won’t release the MTF chart or even the block diagram of this lens.

        That’s a bit surprising.

I got an SLRM Hyperprime CINE 12mm T1.6 a few months ago and have nothing but praise for it! Both the build and image quality is excellent… and I love the stepless aperture ring. The only negative is that with a filter in the front, it vignettes. Bummer, off goes the filter.

It’s become one of my “always carry” lenses!

I’d LOVE to see them release an 7mm, 8mm, 9mm or 10mm of comparable quality… and SPEED! I’d even settle for f2.0. 😉

@Mr Reeee, on the Hyperprime CINE 12mm T1.6 you merely need to buy a cheap step-up filter and a filter for that to avoid vignetting.

It would be useful if lens reviews would spell out the lens mount, materials, price and availability. The lens is not even listed on the eBay link in the article.

SLR Magic is a fairly secretive company apparently. slrmagic.com is vague, doesn’t show photos or specs of all their lenses, and the site is shared with Noktor products. Adorama carries some SLR Magic and has more specs but similar product photo deficits.

The 35 ƒ1.4 in question is evidently not yet publicly available. Admin’s posting two weeks ago was the only evidence that this lens exists, perhaps in small quantities, and possibly the only way to get this lens at the moment is through the exchange procedure with the ƒ1.7 directly from SLR Magic in Hong Kong, referring to the links in the aforementioned posting.

I started the procedure the day of the listing and SLR Magic informed me the ƒ1.4 will ship ‘tomorrow’, which is probably ‘now’ western time. Even then, I know very little about this lens, but should fathom more next week when it allegedly is in my hands and Admin adds an entry in the Camera Database on top of this page.

What I know is pure speculation: native m43, metal (reviewers say ‘tank’), T (which I think means clickless ƒs but I’m not sure), 52mm front thread (maybe), $359 MSRP and likely actual selling price, and only available thus far (as far as I know) through the exchange offer. All the other stuff I know is hypothetical, that’s it’s “sharp,” beautiful”, “tank”, “wonderful,” “wunderbar,” “grody to the max,” etc.

Hit me up in two weeks if still interested. I’ll shoot photos of/with it to set the record straight.

Great! I hope you’re gonna test this lens on an OMD, ’cause so far all the tests have been done on a GH2/3.
I’ve also read that SLRMagic is going to release an anamorphic lens. Do you happen to know anything about that?

Looking forward to your ‘review’ :)

      • Andrew

        Dear All,

The lens is not yet listed on our website or on eBay but from local orders and email orders we are already short of stock. If anyone wants one they may send an email request to sales@noktor.com or support@slrmagic.com and for those who are wondering about shipping, the $349 already includes shipping cost. The lens will also slowly become available at our worldwide resellers.

          Hi Andrew

Thanks for the info. I’ll definitely order one. When can we expect more info on the anamorphic lens and when is it planned to be released?

We are busy with the production of our upcoming lenses first. After the 35mm T1.4, 35mm T0.95, 25mm T0.95, and 23mm F1.6 production is up to pace we will concentrate back on the anamorphic project. It’s more complicated than it sounds to design and manufacture a product so I did mention on some forums the lens is not something we can make in months.

            BR,
            Andrew
