New reviews roundup (GF5, E-M5, Sigma 19mm, Leica 35mm)

Sigma 19mm
DSLRmagazine (Click here for the translation) posted the new Sigma 19mm lens review. Resolution is very good and the lens has no CA, no aberrations no major flaws a part of some vignetting at f/2.8. Afterall the two new Sigma 30mm and 19mm lenses are performing extremely well and may be the best choice it you have a limited budget! For my European friends. Take a look at the lens price from Digitalrev as it is cheaper than in Europe (with improt tax icluded!):
The 30mm lens is in Stock at Amazon US (Click here), Amazon DE (Click here), Amazon UK (Click here), Amazon FR (Click here), Amazon JP (Click here) and Digitalrev (Click here).

Panasonic GX1
Photographyblog (Click here) posted the full Panasonic GF5 review: “With the GX-1 satisfying the needs of prosumers, the GF5 is free to concentrate on wooing compact step-up users, and it does a great job of persuading them to invest in what is undoubtedly a faster, fuller-featured system that ultimately delivers better image quality, in a form factor that won’t intimidate or confuse.”

Leica 35mm
ThePhoBlographer (Click here) tested the Leica 35mm Summicron on the E-Pm1: “Though it can be used to create some wonderful images, it also often left me with less keepers than I’d thought due to focusing issues. However, once that focus is perfectly nailed and the user combines this with careful thought, they’ll be able to get images that they’ll be very happy with.”
The Leica Summicron is one of the tiniest lenses and available on eBay (Click here).

2 years ago |Why is the Leica 35mm has focusing issue? Is it simply because the photographer doesn’t know how to manual focus? And he might not be using focus assist?
Uberzone
2 years ago |That would be my guess.
Also, that review is for the GF5, not the GX1
Mr. Reeee
2 years ago |Yes on both counts, although he did mention that the focus ring wasn’t as smooth as it should be.

2 years ago |For @ admin and the rest of people:
I was checking the digitalrev store. They have very interesting prices for Europe with included taxes and free shipping for the new sigma lenses. Are these guys serious and reliable? Anyone bought there? Any info??
Thx in advance guys…
Yusuf
2 years ago |Digitalrev is legit I bought both 19 and 30 for e mount got them in 3 days after order sent through by DHL! I have bought cameras from them in the past and always been happy, yes the 7D is a grey import but was £200 cheaper then anywhere else!
Their 5D Mark III is almost £400 cheaper then anywhere else in europe!

2 years ago |Thx Yusuf; are you happy with these lenses?
I owe the olympus 12mm f2 and the 45mm f1.8 and was looking for something to complete my prime lens package like these two you have… I know these two are far less bright, but I like very much the pictures I saw around.

2 years ago |I do really like the lenses played around with the 30mm a lot on the nex5n and up till that point used kit lenses and the voigtlander 35 1.4, all of those lenses are not exactly sharp and felt maybe it was the sensor and all! However with the sigma 30 the camera mages are sharp at 2.8! and I will test the 19mm and if I like it I will buy the same for my EM5 whenever it arrives!
I have learnt ISO, MP, Lens speed is nothing if the images are not sharp or in focus!

2 years ago |I agree
Thx again @Yusuf !
Mr. Reeee
2 years ago |The Voigtländer Nokton Classic 35mm f1.4 is very sharp on y GH2, at least. No problem focusing, either.g
Yusuf
2 years ago |Yes found the same lens on my G3 sharper but think its due to the centre part of the lens being used which is always sharper!
On the next found some parts sharp but overall the 35 not sharp, but great in low light with nice rendering!
David
2 years ago |Yes bought from DigitalRev many times – no problems. Courier is typically Aramax and takes 2-3 days.

2 years ago |Thanks @ David and @Yusuf
I placed my order minutes ago.
Hope everything is ok.

2 years ago |FYI: Swedish Cyberphoto.se are even cheaper than Digitalrev on The Sigmas. Not sure they sell to other countries though.
Geoff
2 years ago |Was curious about this message by Martin Westin so just checked out the prices on Cyberphoto & Digital Rev sites Cyberphoto were approximately £17.00 sterling dearer on both lenses, plus you’d have to add UK Duty at 20% Whereas Digital Rev is free of duty and carriage. No contest in my eyes.

2 years ago |About the E-M5 vs X Pro 1 pictures at SLR Club – Olympus and Fuji definitely have a different approach to how much sharpening is appropriate for JPEGs ;o)
safaridon
2 years ago |Minor correction – the photographyblog review is on the GF5 not the GX1.
What is surprising is just how good the JPEGS and raw high ISO are with the new GF5. I would like to see a comparison with the E-M5 as appears may be just as good to my eyes based on the 100% blowups at ISO 3200 and 6400?

2 years ago |I wondering when M4/3 will have another Leica branded prime lens . Summilux & Elmarit already got , what is next ?
Things will turn wonderful if Leica can come up Notilux or Summicron for m4/3 with AF . I definitely will make it my top purchase .
Ulli
2 years ago |an AF Noctilux for M43 would be a small sensation

2 years ago |+1. Sign me up for one.

2 years ago |Quite impressed with the GF5 image quality. Seems like a big improvement over my current GF3. As safaridon said I’d also like to see it compared to the E-M5.

2 years ago |Dear friends,
I know it’s a bit OFF but I need your help!
I’ve just bought a Pana 45-200 second hand, but the seller said the lens was new, or at least “like new”.
My big problem is that I feel the focusing to be much louder than I’ve got used from my 14-42. The focusing speed also seems to be greatly inferior to 14-42, at least two times less, even at wide end (45 mm).
I’m not sure whether the above are normal or not, but as I understand this lens has to be virtually silent and even faster than 14-42, at least on wide end.
Would somebody give me an opinion whether my lens is OK or not? I’ve tried the lens using my G3 (firmware 1.2) and the lens also has the latest firmware (1.3).
Thanks a lot in advance!

2 years ago |e-m5 vs x pro 1 is interesting.
I prefer the warmer colour balance of the em-5 but on 100% crops it looks over-processed and artificial; the trees in particular. Hopefully turning down the sharpening and noise reduction should take care of that.
MikeH
2 years ago |Admin: This is a GF5 review not a GX1 review. They made a few typos, slipping GX1 in when they meant to type GF5.
MikeH
2 years ago |Most of the GF5 images from controlled tests have been impressive. m43 sensor and processor technologies are coming along nicely.
Petter
2 years ago |Hi, I did a little hands-on comparison of the E-M5 and the GX1 on my blog:
