New Panasonic lenses available in Europe and Asia (but not in US)
Do you remember the days when US shops were the first to have the stuff in Stock? These days are gone. We learned with the GH2 that European shops are getting the camera before the Americans. The same thing is happening with the new Panasonic lenses. Those shops are all having the lenses in Stock:
Panasonic 100-300mm:
Pixmania -> Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Netherland, Belgium, Poland
Amazon -> Germany, UK, France
Panasonic 14mm:
Pixmania -> Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Netherland, Belgium, Poland
Amazon -> Germany, UK, France
Panasonic 3D lens:
Pixmania -> Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Netherland, Belgium, Poland
Amazon -> Germany, UK, France
In US not a single store has them (Check Amazon US, Adorama, BHphoto).
For our US readers the only way to get them is through eBay (non US resellers):
Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 eBay acutions
Panasonic 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 eBay acutions
Panasonic 3D 12.5mm f/12 eBay acutions
Looks like japanese companies are “preferring” the EURO over the DOLLAR currency.

2 years ago |That sounds fine by me. US has been 1st for too long & it was a good feeling when our AUS$ went above theirs & back when we won the Americas Cup. OK I’ll stop.

2 years ago |Picked up the 100-300 a few hours ago from a HK dealer. All the above have been on the shelves for a week or so via Panasonic, not grey importers. Prices are as expected.
Conclusions: good lens, not great when pushed to the extremes but very capable and sharp at mid f stops. Contrast is quite surprising. Dull overcast day but got some good pictures in.
OIS on this lens is much more effective than the 45mm. Shot hand-held on a moving ferry at full zoom with no blur, wasn’t expecting that.

On the homepage, you have 5 “rumours” of where to buy released products… one “rumour” that is actually a review of cameras that have been out for ages… and one “rumour” of some dude how hacked a fixed lens camera.
Over and out.

2 years ago |Actually, the sales items you’re complaining about are categorized under “Deals”. If you just want rumors (not Deals and not Reviews), you can set your browser on http://www.43rumors.com/category/rumor/.
As for the deals, I occasionally feel as you do, but yesterday bought a lens from B&H at a great price because of the Deals heads up on this site. So the deals have value since they directly concern MFT. Also, MFT is at such an early stage that it’s actually informative to see how the prices are adjusted to drive the market to MFT… and as a hint (w/r/t bodies) of when new cameras are imminent. The Deals can be informative too.
Finally, given that you can filter on Rumors specifically (to your taste), I think it’s better to applaud the work that goes into Deals and the rest. Yesterday, I noticed three impressive things about the Deals. 1) The information was timely enough for me to act on it with success (and I was lucky enough to grab one of the B&H lens deals in time). 2) The information was corrected as soon as the deal ended. 3) Admin put a lot of hidden and vigilant TLC time into this site for the B&H deal (to keep the “Deal” information timely and fully up-to-date). Multiply that TLC by quite a few deals, and I see a lot of time savings for the rest of us, as well as a friendly place to share our own notes on the Deals, Rumors, and Reviews. So I think it’s better to focus on the great amount of often unseen work going into this site to save us time and get us timely information, than it is to get upset over Deals information alongside Rumors.

P.S: I don’t wish any bad for US buyers, just ask for same prices here.

This fills a real niche, more traditional sites (DPR, Camera Labs,Imaging Resource, etc.) limiting themselves to true news (which is fine for their application) with sometimes no new entries for several days.
I also enjoy the Admin’s lighter tone than other sites, which seems to rub off on this site’s forum, unlike DPR’s which too often descends into cat fights.

Over and out.

US fiscal and monetary policy are a mess with the dollar falling due to profligate government spending. The German central bank has done much better in pursuing policies to have a sound and stable euro.
