2 years ago |I love the rendering color from the new Leica DG sumilux ,.. I owned the old version (4/3) Leica D summilux, and I believe the old one is slightly better, the new one has more purple fringing,. But it much smaller and lighter also will give more balance on my GF1,.. Hmm cos $$$ half from the old one ,.. I think it’s time to give a rest to my old glass and purchase a new Leica DG .
Does anyone / anysite have compare between the Old Leica D 4/3 -New Leica DG m4/3 & CV 0.95 25mm?

It’s because in Euroland we are used to pay a ~30% premium on every price…
First and cheaper don’t play together!

2 years ago |When can we have a faster burst speed ala Sony NEX series so that we can maximize the potentials of these fast primes? Sony’s recently released NEX-5N and NEX-7 can do an astounding 10 fps, but the Alphas do not have enough fast primes & telephoto focal lengths. A 10 fps mirrorless camera can become a formidable lightweight sports camera. On the other hand, the Lumix & Olys have the widest range of primes & focal lengths available but not the shutter speed to truly maximize these lenses. Panny & Oly may start the 4/3 cameras for Leica rangefinder enthusiasts. But I bet they didn’t expect the great adoption by the consumers & hobbyist alike. Now it’s time for them to expand their territories to advanced users and even beyond : the Pros.

Lens Infinity lock force me to choose between Leia D and DG. For now M4/3 only Olympus 12mm f/2.0 has such function…

2 years ago |I have both the Leica & Nokton (uk)….both are awesome lenses!

2 years ago |do you mean both the pana/leica 25 1.4 and the nokton 25 0.95?
if so any comparison details between them?
(other than the obvious auto vs manual)
andy
2 years ago |Yes both
I would say the Leica beats the Nokton at f1.4..very sharp..minimum CA and very fast AF…very controlled image…light..plastic is better quality than the other m4/3 lenses.
Nokton has just better build quality and more character…gives more creativity as well extra light.
So I love them both..hard to say which ones best. If AF is your thing the the Leica is the way to go.

2 years ago |This lens actually isn’t in stock in Asia outside of Japan. I was in Seoul yesterday and all they had was the Japanese version for $800. Same deal as America. I’ve got it preordered at digitalrev out of Hong Kong as well. They don’t have it yet either.

2 years ago |oh really? not china? they do have it in korea, some korean guy commented and said its available.
i am so confused by panasonic. they keep annoucing new lenses before the lens they announced last isnt even available?? crapp

2 years ago |I don’t take any Pana announcement serious anyway. And now not even the announcements through 43rumours. As Narretz commented: the 43rumours’ link to Amazon.de was broken and when you repaired it, the lens wasn’t available as promised, Amazon didn’t even have a forecast when it would be available.
Still i love Pana’s announcing new standard zooms every six months or so. What else would you want as a photographer.

2 years ago |I saw that too. It is not available online so I went to Seoul and checked the Namdaemun camera markets. The Panasonic authorized sellers said they hoped they would be getting it soon. Shops that sold used good had a few that they had imported from Japan. The cheapest price I could find was W780,000 =~750 USD.

2 years ago |Ha ha, here in the Uk I’ve already shot with the 25/1.4 for a few weeks and returned or because it has much worse corner performance than the 20/1.7 and it’s huge on a ep-3…
andy
2 years ago |yes corner peformance @ f1.4?…I have never used a f1.4 lens that has corner peformance.
Shame you didnt give the lens a chance its vastly better lens than the 20mm f1.7..and the 20mm is a great lens.

2 years ago |WOW…the 25mm f/1.4 is a really good lens…I think that may have to be my kit lens on my new GF7!…they will probably both be available at the same time in the US!

2 years ago |Impressive! It beats 20/1.7 in every way except of size. I actually see a big difference, may be I am more sensitive – it worth its price if you have money of course, I do not know how you can switch to 20/1.7 after owning 25/1.4. But good stuff does not come free, there is always trade-offs. 20/1.7 image also is more distorted because of wider angle. I think 25/1.4 is better in that respect.
