New Panasonic GH2 and E-PL2 reviews
Panasonic GH2
Trustedreviews tested the GH2: “The GH2 is an incredibly versatile camera, offering image quality that comes close to a DSLR but in a body that’s lighter and more compact. What’s more, the flip out touchscreen, mass of manual controls, and instant-on video capabilities make it not just a jack but nearly a master of all. However, there is one whopper of a stumbling block, and that’s price. ”
Teh australian magazine Pcworld also tested the GH2: “The bottom line is that the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH2 Micro Four Thirds camera is an excellent product. Its combination of manual and automatic features make it ideal for any type of user and if you want to make the most of its manual features the learning curve isn’t too high”
And at last Digitalcamerareview posted a first look article and Fourthirds-user posted JPG and RAW samples on their website.

Olympus E-PL2
Steve digicams finished his Olympus E-PL2 review: “Olympus has taken an already awesome camera (the E-PL1) and made it even better. The E-PL2 has some note worthy improvements that add to the appeal of this series, with the addition of the control dial, beefier hand grip, new conversion lens options, and the PENPAL being my personally favorites.”

WHY?!

2 years ago |Maybe DPreview, like most of North America, can’t get their hands on one. Which points out the other major flaw of the GH2, its unavailability. By the time you can actually buy one in the U.S. Panasonic will be announcing the G3, likely followed by the GH3, and the cycle begins all over again.

2 years ago |this is utterly unlikely. DPreview is a much too known and visited site for any manufacturers to overlook them. They probably were among the first to have their hands on pre-production models.
Same for Luminous Landscape. Ever since the announcement, seemingly every other day, there is a photo published from somewhere in Mexico taken with the GH2. So far we only had the “first impressions” article…

2 years ago |Well I’m glad to see now that more people can get their hands on the GH2, we’ve got a sea of good reviews coming in. I love this camera, so it’s a bit reassuring to see that I’m not delusional in my feelings.
As for no GH2 review on DPreview… they review one camera every six months; they are quick to “preview” and always extremely slow to review everything. By the time they post their GH2 review, nobody will need it anymore.

2 years ago |I have been told 2 weeks to fill my order for the GH2 14-42 kit. That is a reasonable wait. The price is under $900, and I think it is good value.
