    Which lenses are discontinued?
    FT lenses?

  • Raist

Probably because the Pen5 is still pretty overpriced. Still want to see how gx7 sensor scores as thats the biggie question there.

  • Anonymous

Some of the info (discount amounts) are incorrect, but the links are still helpful for those checking for savings.

Amazing, the m.zuiko 60mm for 399$! I would buy it immediately for this price! But the lowest one in germany is 557,20 EUR = 739$ !!!

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I was just in New York and bought the Sigma 60mm (which I like and has a four year warranty), but if this discount had existed then, I would have considered the Oly, especially since it’s weather-sealed.

  • dralum

discounted, not discontinued… big difference ;-)

  • Anonymous

They’re gonna need more than just $50 off to entice buyers.

        Germany as well! Pleeeeeeeaaase! :D

    • Anonymous

I’ve been looking to buy an E-M5 plus selection of Olympus prime lenses for over 8 months. But changes in the price of the E-M5 body in UK have simply been matched by the reduced value of the deals offered by Olympus. Too late Olympus, decided to go for Fuji XE-1 now !

  • Anonymous

$150 off the EP5 or a bundle with the VF4 for $999 would get their market back….otherwise, I think $50 is not going to do it.

  • john

Any discount in Europe?I am interested in some lenses. Waiting on the side line for some news from Olympus and I’ll probably go against the general opinion but I really don’t like the rumors of the new om-d.
I am an Em-5 owner but I think the gx-7 is deserving all the attention even though I would like to see some reviews and photo comparisons. Basically GX-7 is what Ep-5 could have been if Olympus included the viewfinder (even a small one)in the form factor of the camera.
Some of the quirkiness of the EM-5 could have been solved with a firmware update but the strategy of releasing so many models in a short time span leaves no hope.

  • Uth

wow… 5-6 Panasonic cameras are in the first 15 ranking ( The first one for olympus camera is in the 15th rank (OM-D is in the 16th)

Still cannot fathom how over-priced MFT is. WTF.

    • try one
the portability is worth every penny

      • Junius

I own a GH3. Really disappointed with the MFT lens range, and more so, with the price of those lenses. Physically, I wouldn’t say my GH3 is much more portable than my Canon 60D and 7D. The only portable camera I own is a Sony NEX5n – and to be honest, it puts my GH3 and Canon’s to shame (in stills anyway, GH3 beats the hell out of it for video).

I look at the Nikon 35mm F1.8G and 50mm F1.8G for example – both can be had for $200. Sure, they may not be built to withstand being run-over by an army tank, but given the price-range, such build-quality can be lived with. Now, 35mm becomes roughly a 50mm on a Nikon APS-C (lets say a D7100 for example), while the 50mm becomes roughly a 75mm on a Nikon APS-C. Now, lets see what the MFT equivalents are; well, there are none – and that’s my point. With MFT, there are no cheap, auto, fast prime lenses that have traditional focal-lengths (35mm, 50mm, 85mm). I’m very surprised that neither Panasonic or Olympus have yet to created cheap f1.8/f2.0 prime-lenses. I think such a range of lenses would really help MFT grow and expand its user-base.

        • true homer

I call bs. Ive held the gh3 and 7d simultaneously in each hand and the difference is gargantuan. More than any number you can quote me from an oscure site. With the grip the difference is even more ridiculous. And id like to sseenwhat lenses what lenses give you the range youre talking about. On m43s Theres 24 -70, 70-200, 50 1.4, 35, 24, 150 1.8 equivalents to name a few. Can you name me thoae equivalents on your canon bodies? No you cant.
          Absolute bs.

          • Junius

True Homer – calm the f**k down. If I wasn’t so lazy, I’d get-up off my ass and take photos of my GH3 and 7D next to one another from all angles just to prove you wrong. And stop with the battery-grip crap – I didn’t mention anything about grips. The GH3 body-only isn’t that much smaller than a 7D body-only. You want a true compact mirrorless camera, try a Sony NEX – not only superior in size to MFT, but better ISO and dynamic-range. I’m brand agnostic. I couldn’t give two-s**ts about brand allegiance and God knows what else gets your so riled up. MFT has serious problems. It’s over-priced and lacks cheap, fast primes. That’s the truth. Deal with it.

        • JimD

The 85mm is not a traditional lens the 90mm was. The 85 arrived at about the same time as the APSC sensor and is the equivalent of the 135. Also the “traditional” size for a walk around lens was one the same as the frame diagonal. Somewhat shorter than the 50mm with 135 cameras.
But having said that many lens makers put their lenses into a category even though they might be short or long of the designated size. Somewhere or other there will be a lens to fit a M43 body to almost any focal length you want over 7mm.

          • Jalaewal

The first Nikon 85mm was released in 1964 and the focal length has been a constant ever since where do you guys come up with your ideas ?

            • Anonymous

They were thinking ahead. But the 90 was the world standard.

        • I came to m43 from Nikon D700, D7000, D300s and some really chunky lenses

m43 9-18 compared to an FX or DX equivalent is no comparison in size or price

primes we have: 12/14/17/17/20/20/25/45/75 … in such a short time
plus the specials: fisheye and two macros

pricewise – the EM5/GH3 are superb value for money in comparison to the FX cameras

the real surprize is the Oly 45/1.8 – super cheap and super good … agree we need a few more of these!!

Perhaps Pan/Oly see two main users of m43:
          – the kit lens user who might buy another zoom one day
          – the enthusiast who totally gets the PEN idea and will pay the premium for small metal kit

Okay, lets not mention the insult of the black 12/2 – that was just all wrong and now they have themselves in a pickle having made the other silver lenses in black now at the same price as the silver (although a couple of stores are actually charging a premium for the black 17/45/75!!!)

My Oly 12/2.0 – in Nikon FX if I wanted a 24mm lens with decent performance then gosh how much is the 24/1.4 and how big is it.

so, you have the GH3, the biggest m43 body so far – but its not THAT big is it?

          • see for yourself :)

Where are the phtoe with the horizontal grip? Cause 90% of em5 users find it unbearable without it. With it the size is not that far off

              • JimD

the grip is detrimental when using manual focus legacy lenses. The buttons for focus (I use the top ones, better for me with no grip and I don’t want 2 methods) magnification do not line up well with the grip shutter button. portrait with the full grip is fine.

              • Junius

Any 24mm lens shot at F4 will so the exact same job as an F2 lens on mFT. As for the zoom an equivalent to the 9-18 would be an 18-36mm F8-F 11

  • Narretz

Still waiting for any news on the GX7 availability in Germany. Amazon doesn’t even have it listed.

    • true homer

It said very clearly availability was gonna be September

  • Sam Bennett

Your numbers are off on some of these. For instance, the FL-600R is only $50 off, not $75.

  • amalric

I just ate a piece of poo.

    • Is that what they teach you at school? Did you lost the war and are under Nazi occupation?

Good luck: under the NSA boot, that’s what you eat. Hello Jaywol DPR’s gauleiter :)

  • Stimmer

Admin, still waving the Panasonic Pom poms?

You’re pushing the gx7 pretty hard. Come back and see how it looks when the thing is actually on the shelves. Right now it’s just pent up Panasonic fans who have been waiting for pannys answer to the omd.

    • true homer

Dont be a joker. Pana answered the omd a long time ago. And besides, what do you want admin to do? Push the overpriced ep5? Theres enough oly fanboys here already

      • Anonymous

But you are the Prince of Fanboys and the Ultimate Joker in the pack. The resident Panny fanboy.

        • and you are … ?

        • true homer

          Said anonymous…

      • really, I thought we were still waiting for Panasonic to use a sensor that could even be compared to the sensor in 4x of the Oly bodies: EM5/PL5/PM2/EP5

I really really do hope that the GX7 sensor can step the game up from the ‘good at the time GH2’ but time has moved on and Pan has been left in the sidelines on sensor performance

    • the PEN form factor with built in EVF is what “EVERYONE” has been screaming for … it desires a big load of promotion

(personally I like the look of most of the camera, but I think the jutting-out EVF is a fail – for me – but I will handle one before I get my EM5 or G6 … and who knows perhaps I’ll fall for it and get the GX7 instead?!)

  • Anonymous

What happened to the new Oly zooms?

  • JimD

“The GX7 (and discounted G5) still sells way better according to Amazon ranking (Click here).”

It would seem that people have been waiting for a RF style with built in EVF and IBIS and flash.
Many of us have been telling Olympus that for some years.

Now they have to chase what they refused to make themselves.

  • Full frame

Yes and quality of the lens sucks I own the to panny zooms and gh3. I just sell gh3 even the omd is way better for still panny colors sucks

    • true homer

      No you dont. Troll harder

  • The information on some of the discounts doesn’t show up on the linked websites, for example

$80 off on the Olympus MMF-3 4/3 to Micro 4/3 Adapter

None of the linked websites show any discounts on this item :-(
