New Olympus 45mm review (shipping at Amazon US!)
Peter Lueck (Click here) posted a new Olympus 45mm f/1.8 review. The review is in german but the conclusion is the same form other reviewers. This is a sharp lens with almost no flaws. For the price a real must have lens! Oly the body quality is not as good as the Olympus 12mm f/2.0 lens but it also cost a lot less!
A coupel of readers contacted me to say that Amazon.com finally shipped their Olympus 45mm lens (Click here to preorder on Amazon).

2 years ago |I agree. Online shopping should be cheaper not more expensive… and certainly not THAT much more expensive.
I bought this lens a week ago from my local camera shop for $20 less than the American MSRP… I still can’t believe it.

2 years ago |Nothing wrong in waiting and desiring what you already have. But thats all. $80 is not much of an overhead for someone who can afford and values to have it sooner.
..Its not as if they charged several times more to the “early adopters”

2 years ago |Impressive pix! If I already didn’t have a 50mm f1.4 Pentax SMC Takumar I’d be very tempted.
The M4/3 system really needs some fast prime telephotos! 135mm, 150mm, 200mm, 300mm, 400mm equivalents. A longer macro around 200mm would be nice, too.

If Olympus announced a 300mm f4 I would preorder it just as I did the 45mm.

2 years ago |One from Panasonic would be better. Certainly it would have Power OIS, which is more effective than IBIS for long lenses.

2 years ago |I am just going to wait until it is in stock at B&H…it will cost $399, I bet.
So this lens ships without a lens hood, too (correct?)….is it $100 for the hood like the one on the 12mm?????
(my 12mm just arrived today…it beautiful & small!….but sooo expensive).

2 years ago |I had one on backorder at B&H, but the local dealer got them in first, so I cancelled the B&H order and bought the local one (same price.) I think Olympus is trying to give all their dealers some stock.
No, the hood is not included, nor is a case. All you get are front and rear caps. I’m not complaining, though!

I just ordered the lens from J&R. In stock and not overpriced like Amazon

2 years ago |Dwight..The item is Olympus LH-40B…I cannot find it on the web.
I bought the lens hood for my Olympus 12mm f/2.0 from Hong Kong…($94.00!…what a rip off)…It is not available anywhere in the USA that I can find…..but I do not see the hood for the 45mm anywhere on the Web…so maybe Oly may be having some production problems. If I see it anywhere in the next day or so, I will post it here.

2 years ago |I prefer folding lens hoods. You can keep them on at all times and they get out of the way when not in use. it keeps the compact nature of M4/3 truly compact!
B+W makes nice ones.

It contains more 45mm f1.8 photos than I have been able to find anywhere else and many of them are much better than those posted on the review sites. (I really like the pictures of the frog and the girl on page 13)
