New Micro Four Thirds reviews (GX1 back in Stock + other deals)
The new super tiny 14-42mm X pancake has been tested at SLRgear (Click here): “the lens offers excellent performance, and provides a very small package in the process. Unless you’re hooked on zoom and focus rings, there’s not much to argue about with this lens.”
In Stock status: Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
Full Panasonic-Leica 25mm f/1.4 review at Steve Huff (Click here): “The IQ is superb, the lens focuses about as fast as the 20 1.7 and I had no issues focusing in low light with the E-P3. Overall I’d say if you don’t mind the size, go for the 25.”
In Stock status: Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

5 months ago |I’d buy an EPM1 for 299. Would rather have an EP3 with wireless flash capability though…regardless, I’m waiting until Feb 8 before I buy anything!

5 months ago |At stevehuff website , he mentioned the PL DG 25 is sharper on EP-3 rather than GX1,.. I agree completly,.. Even the OLD GF1 is Sharper, better WB than GX1.
I felt like to hold a Computer with A Lense rather than photography tool, when i using GX1 ,.. Funny

+1. It seems like a lot of people prefer the over processed look.

Very interesting. Apparently there’s more to the 14-42 X story yet to be told.

5 months ago |I like slrgear.com very much and their sharpness charts are quite useful and usually spot-on.
I’m amazed that the 14-42 X faired so well–really impressive results! Much better than the previous Pany 14-42 (which I dislike). Many people badmouth the new X lenses as being crap, but perhaps that verdict should be reconsidered?

5 months ago |Seriously. At equivalent apertures and 14mm, it easily beats the (admittedly lousy) 16mm NEX prime lens. More impressively, at equivalent apertures it matches the 24mm Zeiss NEX prime lens at 14mm and it beats it at 25mm (which likely implies it would beat it at 18mm – i.e., the M43 equivalent to a 24mm APS-C lens). And this is a kit zoom lens that’s the size of a pancake lens!!

5 months ago |serious reviews of the 14-42 X lens are few and far between. However, they all rate the lens highly. Contrary to popular prejudice, I think Panasonic are arguably the most innovative lens maker currently – 20mm f1.7/14mm f2.5, 7-14 f4, 14-42 X all set new size/design/performance standards. Yes they are compromises but they innovate and challenge convention in what is a very conservative industry. Upcoming fast zooms will be very interesting too. Oly 4/3 glass is great but their mft product is not as good (bar 45mm f1.8). Other manufacturers are only interested in iterations of long established designs.
