New FourThirds and MicroFourThirds flash from Nissin!
A. sent us a very interesting news:
“Got this post from omuser.com. This post said that Nissin, in its tenth anniversary general meeting, announced to release a series of digital flash products to support 4/3 and m4/3. The photo shown in the link is a limited edition of white colored flash. Supposing to match with the white E-P1 and GF-1
The model in the photo is a model Di466, it will support wireless, TTL, non-TTL, manual and also a mode called My TTL, which seems to allow users to select the exposure value for the TTL (I guess on the flash body itself??)

4 years ago |I suspect the white versions may be Japan only, but assuming the normal black Nissan flash are done in the Olympus format this is good news. It looks like there are 4 models (Di28, Di466, the above mentioned Di622, and the Di866). The flashes look fast (4 second recycle time). At the cost of $130 that B&H charges for the Di622, it looks like this will be a killer flash, coming in at the price of the Sakur clones, but more functional. The only thing I can’t tell from the web site, is whether it supports the Nikon/Canon equivalent of FP-TTL mode (which so far, Metz is the only clone maker that supports it).

4 years ago |Checking in with the Nissin site:
http://www.nissindigital.com/top.html
And then going to the 2010 PMA page:
http://www.nissindigital.com/2010/01/pma-2010–los-a.html
We see that only the Di422 is being announced for 4/3rds. So far, the other Nissin models are not being made for 4/3rds. The Di422 does not swivel, but it does tilt.
Lets see, the specs are:
* Guide number, 33m
* 4 AA batteries, 4 second recycle time with Nimh batteries
* covers 14mm normally, 12mm with builtin diffuser (numbers in 4/3rds focal length)
* AF assist light (for classic 4/3rds cameras only)
* Wireless TTL (for classic Olympus 4/3rds cameras only)
* Generic optical slave mode
* Can set flash exposure composition on flash, but no LCD display
* Filter holder for changing the flash color temperture
