Current and future E-PL5/E-PM2 owners may be glad to know that Gariz just released their new high quality case. And they are already available on eBay:

There is also another E-PL5 ISO test posted by the Hungarian website Pixinfo. Sadly google translation tool doesn’t work on that website so you can just take a look at the ISO test images.

    E-PM3?
    LOL

  • With current trend of upgrading every 1-2 years, I kinda lost my appetite for expensive camera cases.

But! Anyone to suggest good screen protector for EPL5, please?

I agree, theses are throw-away consumer cameras. Your case is gonna be more expensive than the camera in a couple of years.

Awaiting J&R to get the kits in stock to order an E-PL5. Can hardly wait!

Am I the only one who can’t stand these frumpy coarse-stitched strap on half assed cases? I know they serve a practical purpose, but I don’t think I’ve even remotely liked a single one I’ve ever seen. It’s a mismatch of aesthetics and just doesn’t work imo :S

Useless retro-hypster garbage if you ask me ;-)

    • I’m all for retro-hipster garbage but I still can’t see the point. They don’t actually cover that much due to the screen/buttons and so they only really protect the base. People claim they give it some ergonomic bulk. I’d rather buy one of the grip+plate set-ups i’ve seen.

I’ve never understood cases, I never treat my camera’s like babies, hell for the first year I threw it everyday in with my bag and no protection.. still looks great.

I think they’re for people that are whole heartedly consumed by GAS and must buy more and more things, and for a few nervous nellies that genuinely think exposing bare camera to the outside will hurt it. Same people that slap UV filters on every lens I bet.

They’re so ugly, make the camera a mess to deal with, and make you look like someone who is more interested in walking around with an accessory than taking photos.

  • Looks garish. What makes it “high quality”? Is it made from vegetable-tanned goat leather? It looks more like the “finest Corinthian leather” harvested from Ricardo Montalban’s personal Chrysler Cordoba. :-P

Why can’t they make one that would look decent on the white camera? I was really disappointed that Olympus didn’t make the E-PL5 in red like they did the E-PM2 so I had to order white

As far as cases go, these are gorgeous. I would never buy one though. Akin to a beautiful lady in an expensive dress. While the dress is fantastic I’m more interested in what is underneath.

88$ for a case when ebay is full of 8$ cases?? Okay, in the moment these are for epl3, but the pl5 is almost identical, I’m sure it fits to an epl3 case… Just another ripoff – and if you sell your cam in 2 years, then you loose this 88$ together with the devaluation of the cam.

If you are worried about devaluation, stay away from portable consumer electronics :P How much do you think my 4 year old laptop is worth these days?
