10 months ago |Why in the world would you want it to be more like the Sony RX100 than the LX-7? The Sony camera has way too many megapixels and quite frankly its lens is very disappointing at F1.8 – F4.9.
I would much rather have the F1.4 – F2.3 lens of the LX7. Especially since it goes down to 24mm instead of only going to 28mm like the RX100.
Really I can’t see any benefit the much more expensive Sony has over the LX7 besides the larger sensor? And that really isn’t that big a difference because the LX7 uses much fewer pixels than the Sony.
Neither of these cameras are going to give you shallow depth of field with those lenses. However, at least you can take pictures in low light with the LX7.
What am I missing that makes you really want the Sony?

10 months ago |A larger sensor. That is my main wish.

10 months ago |What Benefits do you see the larger sensor having in this size of sensor? In my opinion the aperture and focal ratio have a much bigger impact on the image quality than the sensor size in this class of camera.

Its why dxomark scales everything down to 8 megapixels in testing to get true performance. Compare the sony to nikon v1 at 10 megapixels and it’s a bit cleaner.

10 months ago |My prediction on the incoming XZ2 will be remain the same megapixel as it’s predecessor .
Can’t see a 10 megapixels camera rival the RX100′s 20 megapixels .
Although megapixel comparation is not quite relevant nowsday in justifying a good camera but it’s always better if can get higher .
Just test the RX100 , not a handful camera ( too small ) , prefer it in GF size .
That is a ideal pocket camera it suppose to be .
Let’s see what the XZ2 can offer ?
If I have to pick a fixed lens camera , the Fuji incoming X200 fit my bill .

10 months ago |So we are having another pixel count issue, as far as I’m concerned the morepixels the better aslong as the IQ is still there, my reason for wanting more is the greater ability given regarding cropping if required, one thing I tend to consider when shooting, it’s no good wanting to add that little bit extra after taking the picture………………..

10 months ago |I believe that the DR and image quality is pretty even across the S100, LX7 and ZX1 cameras. Each one has something it does a little better than the other. But they’re pretty close.
However, the RX100 is different. It’s DR is noticably better in darks AND lights.
As amazing as the fast aperture is on the ZX1, I think I would have to choose the RX100 sensor as a really big deal in the prosumer compacts. Everyone else must respond to Sony now.
