New 43rumors features, trick to fix the layout problem, and should we make a meeting?
Just a short note about the recent 43rumors website improvements.
Some of you are might experiencing a 43rumors layout problem. To fix that just reload the website or clear the browsers cache. The layout problem is here because last week we worked on the theme to fix some issues we had with the new IE9 browser. Reload the page and everything will be fine!
There ar e a few things I worked on the last couple of weeks:
1) Member can now edit their own comments. This was a one of the features you asked me to implement.
2) I now added a basic forum. I am going to work on it to allow image posting and other features. The main reason why I added a forum is that some of our articles are source of very interesting discussions. The problem is that after 2-3 days the article gets lost on page two or three of the website. This because I do post 3-4 articles every day. The coolest thing about the forum is that comment system and forum are synchronized. That means that if you write a comment below a post it will be also displayed inside the forum. And inside that forum the latest comment is always on top. This should make you easy to follow interesting discussions. The forum is available here: http://www.43rumors.com/forums/. You need to be a member to post inside the forum.
Future roadmap:
1) We are currently developing an advanced cache systems + Ajax loaded content. This should speed up the website by a 25-40%.
2) A reader images pool. I would love if members could share their best images on 43rumors.
The meeting idea:
Starting from May I will travel a lot because of work. I have planned trips to Antwerp (my second home), Barcelona, New York City and Montpelier. I thought it could be an idea to organize some meetings in a nice informal place like pubs
We can talk about the website about m43 and about whatever else you want. Let me know if you are interested. I am in Antwerp from 17 to 28 April.

All they work on 43rumors is done by a professional designer and a professional servers assistant. And as you already now you can help me to cover this costs by simply using our affiliate links to purchase your products. We earn a small commission for everything you buy. Example: If you click on of these links Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay you are free to buy whatever product you want (Cameras, books or whatever) and we will earn a small commission for it. Important: You pay the normal price not any penny more! And the cool thing is that you will support us!

2 years ago |i really love 43rumors. thank you for all the work you put into it. it´s a nice place for gearnerds like me. i wish there would be something like this for synthesizers and grooveboxes. A place for rumors is a place for dreams.
the forum is a good idea. if only my english would be better, i would write more often and become a member.

2 years ago |Just one suggestion: get rid of the fun.ly short URLs on Twitter. Those are REALLY REALLY annoying and I refuse using them, I go to 43rumors.com directly rather than following the fun.ly links with the ad pop-ups!
admin
2 years ago |Hi Tobias. I am trying to solve that. That stupid plugin owner changed the rules and that’s why you now see that advertising. I am currently testing new plugins.
Ahem
2 years ago |An annoyance on layout: the main content column gets too narrow at some screen/browser widths. I browse windowed at 1300 pixels wide, and even that cuts off a sizable section of images and Youtube videos on their right side. 1024×768 is still the 2nd most frequent resolution of visitors to my own website, so it’s probably the same for yours.

2 years ago |Keep up the good work…I love the new feature that allows me to edit comments after I post them. In the entusiasm to post something at times we can overlook a significant error in what we said or how we said it. That feature on this site is unique to any photo blog I have been on… MOST HELPFUL!
Thanks.

2 years ago |Nice website, and adding a forum which synchronises with the posts under news and articles is really a good idea. Keep up the good work!
Unfortunately I will be in Scotland by the end of April, otherwise I would have come to Antwerp.

2 years ago |Will you be using bbpress or else what wordpress extension for the forum? I’m curious
admin
2 years ago |I am using bbpress. But the deisgner modified a part of it. BBpress is still in beta stage but I do hope they will come out with a more advanced and stable version.

2 years ago |Admin: Thanks for all your efforts. Product rumor sites fill an important role. Keep up the good work. And good on you for figuring out how to make a business out of it during challenging economic times.
If you’re ever in the Portland, Oregon area, please let me know.
(Aside: I’m a GH1 & GH2 owner; see my website for related info & resources.)

2 years ago |Admin, yours is always the first site I visit when I get home from work, before DPR. As for the latter, it has been their Olympus and mFT forums that have been my primary reasons for daily visits, along with their infrequent tests of cameras I have an interest in.
Introduction of a forum on your site is genius, I guarantee it will add a whole new dimension in reader involvement. Best of luck with it.
When in NYC, you should really take a quick 2 1/2 hour drive up to Boston for an overnight (or 2, or 3!) visit, a great town with plenty of sights, museums, historic waterfront and, most importantly, pubs! Beer’s on me!

You should also promise that you pay any possible driving ticket
Ahem
2 years ago |I’ve heard it’s getting stricter with laws in the US, but driving is now a ticketable offense?
