How about a 2x EVF so that what we see matches the 35mm equivalent?

If a model appeals to both the American and Japanese markets, it will probably appeal to others as well.

A new camera would have been a good opportunity in which to introduce 21:9, unless there are technical reasons that would have delayed it.
Also, 21:9 video is actually 21.33:9. It’s just market as 21:9.

If the competition starts to release similar cameras with built in EVFs, the Olympus will do so as well. The OM-D line will still have other features (like weather sealing) to distinguish it from the Pen series.

Not just in black, but how about weather sealing it? It seems like a great lens for baseball games where it will occasionally rain.

I’ve been out of consumer electronics retail for 9 years, but the differences were slight. When it came to consumer electronics, the differences between Japanese consumers and most others were that: 1) There was a greater interest in new features 2) They bought (and replaced) more frequently 3) There was a greater interest in more [...]

It looks like Olympus did a very nice job designing the EM-5. Between this camera and the MMF-3, however, there seems to be no improved support for SWD lenses. There are also no μ43 lenses of comparable quality to my 12-60. I’ll sit out a new camera for now. Perhaps next year.

You can’t take advantage of the Nikon’s 36MP because of the available glass.

I doubt that they’re losing many sales, especially when 1.33:1 matches up better with what people print on. And if they don’t print, it’s simply a matter of personal preference that most people would never even consider.

Having spent my share of time in darkrooms, I hate the 1.5:1 aspect ratio. It’s too wide for most photography. The amount of photographic paper that I trimmed through the years, because 8×10 paper is a 1.33:1 aspect ratio, must be staggering. Medium format? That’s usually 1.33:1 as well. large format? 1.2:1. 35mm is just [...]

Tom, that’s an interesting article. It’s a different type of photography than what I usually do which is urban landscape. I too an Olympus enthusiast with my 33 year old OM-2n (which I rarely use anymore) and E-1. I don’t really need to upgrade my E-1, but it would me nice to have better high [...]

Only one memory card? In a pro model? I’m getting a bad feeling about the EM-5 + MMF-3′s ability to autofocus SWD lenses.

When you shoot with the 25mm, do you wish that it was just a little bit wider? If so, you should get the 17.5mm. Otherwise just enjoy your 25mm.

My problem with manual focus is that I need a split screen and microprism ring to be good at in a dimly lit environment, which is where I would use one of these lenses. I’d love to see that kind of focusing aid synthesized in a mirrorless camera.
