Agreed! Sony’s peeking is useless. I’ve tried it many times after it was introduced and I have been totally dissapointed. On my GH2 I’ve noticed that there is small moire/interference pattern (whatever it is) on LCD at the plane of focus. Since then I use this “fault” for accurate and quite-fast manual focusing even during [...]

Actually Leica M mount FF lenses are smaller than MFT ones. Of course they are manual… but I feel that it is quite possible to make small AF lenses for FF mirrorless cameras.

I was using peaking on NEX cameras and found it useless, not acurate, if I were you I’d try it before buying a camera based on the existence of peaking function. I get MUCH better results using magnificaiton focus assist than using peaking on NEX.

I’m sorry to inform you that Sony DSC-R1 has flange back distance of 2,1 mm as far as I recall. Quite a difference compared to 18mm in NEX. And it has no problem with vigneting etc with very high quality bright zoom lens 24-120 mm. So it is not the matter of time or other [...]

MFT is not a cheap system in any means. -

You can change the focal length of the lens using motor. It is popular on camcorders and compact pocket photo cameras.

You are right, I hope it won’t be huge however rumored f/2,5 gives some impression that it will be not so small anyway. To tell you the truth whether it has or not the power zoom I’ll buy it. I need bright high quality universal zoom. If it is released Panasonic has my money

What you have written reminds me of all this power zoom functions that can be implemented and new possibilities for example: adjusting focal length to keep object’s constant dimensions, memory of last zoom position, automatic contraction of the lens on power off etc… and many more that I can not even imagine right now…

I’m not a pro and I’ll definitely be using power zoom for video. Manual zoom and motorized zoom are complementary rather than exlusionary. Why so many people think “black or white”? With manual zoom lenses one can not use motor zoom, camcorder user cannot use manual zoom, but if the new Panasonic lens has [...] -

If yes, then I’m very interested in buying it. -

I’ve been using NEX with E-mount lenses and with manual focus using peaking mode. I can say two things to you: 1. Forget using it with present E-mount lenses – you’ll end up with poor quality pictures. Nothing to compare with MFT. More to this controls are terrible. Some modes are lacking functions, and swithicg [...]
