Thanks for the additional information.
For me, that is one of the weakest links in some of the DSLR video I’ve worked with – that it absolutely falls apart the second I start pushing and pulling HSL curves. -

Interesting. Thanks, guys. I don’t quite see how the camera would have a shortened life from such tweaks, but perhaps it theoretically would have to do with the sensor running hotter if it’s recording at a higher bit-rate. But that would really be all about the processor, I would think. So, is the point with [...]

Sorry. Please don’t kill me for asking this, but I’m a little outside the loop as far as m4/3 cameras goes. Can someone explain “the hack” that is so widely discussed for these Panasonic cameras?
Thanks.

doug.nash commented on the blog post New Olympus interview, working on new prime lenses! And nobody else wants to join m43
4 months, 1 week ago · ViewWhy would anyone else want to join m4/3? Other manufacturers are better off making their own formats, and controlling the entire chain of development. After all, these companies DO compete with one another. I know I’ll get flamed for writing this on a dedicated m4/3 site, but other than the fact that many of you [...]

Everyone is fixated on that feature, because it is a great feature. Why do you want to tack a bunch of crap to the outside of a small camera? While you’re at it, why not lug around an external flash, too? There simply is no comparison between the quality and composition-value of a physical viewfinder [...]

What a joke. Again, other than having a head-start on the interchangeable lens, mirror-less market, neither Olympus nor Panasonic are doing a single thing to advance their cause. Granted, Nikon looks to have failed miserably in their entry into that market. But that’s not going to stop Fuji and Sony from moving ahead with much [...]

All digital cameras are essentially just computers. They will be quickly replaced by superior and less expensive generations to come. No one will then argue that you are mostly buying into a family of lenses for terms in the magnitude of decades, to be sure. So it would seem difficult to imagine someone buying into [...]

doug.nash commented on the blog post General Electrics will make “Micro Four Thirds alike” cameras… 1 year, 1 month ago · View
The company is “General Electric” with no “s”. That would be interesting to see what they might put to market. Panasonic & Olympus have their own little niche with the M4/3rd standard. But neither are doing anything to advance the overall quality or capability of their cameras. Just coming out with new models doesn’t actually [...]

It’s a nicely executed spot. As for the fact that they used a little camera to shoot it? Not very interesting. Considering the look of the final piece, they could have easily used one of hundreds of other dedicated HD video recorders. It’s not like there is a terribly limited amount of DOF to remark [...]
