Are you saying I paid too much for a 25mm f/1.4? I think I paid more than the “same FX or DX lenses”

nope, I don’t. I’d shoot film if I thought that was true.

Robert de Buys commented on the blog post (FT2) 75mm f/1.8 lens for $799? Coming on June 18th? 1 week, 1 day ago · View
On a Panasonic body with no stabilization the 35-100/2.8 Panasonic seems like a much better deal to me. Of course we all know that Panasonic products won’t be available in the US for a year after the announced arrival time. RE: sensor sizes, FF equivalents, and aperture Comparing a lens between systems is best done [...]

I have both on a GH1. They aren’t direct alternatives. There’s a much bigger perspective difference than it would seem by just comparing focal lengths. The two lenses render an image differently too. The AF is a little better on the 25 but the manual focus is waaaaay better.

I think a distinction between the two models is worthy. The blonde seemed more the type to work for a politician or the US secret service.
It’s a workshop so the scene is what it is. However, I think a short that focused on the middle aged men with cameras would be far more interesting.

Thank you for all your work admin. I got addicted to 43rumors waiting for the PanaLeica 25/1.4. The frequent posts have kept me coming back. Please keep it up.
I enjoyed the post and video regardless of my criticism.

What would you do with a headphone input? I have recorded a kick drum with an NS10 but I don’t think that’s what you mean.
I think you are communicating more about yourself than your opinion on the post.

The women and the lighting are lovely. With all respect to the artist, I don’t understand why this video was posted here. It’s not exactly showcasing the capabilities or shortcomings of MFT. The focus and video in general was meandering. Perhaps the nudity was too great a hurdle for me to see the art. But, [...]

I hope the articulated screen is not a casualty of weather sealing. To me that’s part of what makes the camera so usable. Isn’t there some way to compromise like having the weather sealing only work with the LCD in the closed position or via a rear sealing accessory? How about tilting the EVF? Any [...]

Robert de Buys commented on the blog post Panasonic is considering the use of Android? 1 month ago · View
It sounds like an easy way into the smart phone market to me. If they can build a solid camera based around Android what’s to stop them from putting a radio in it?

Robert de Buys commented on the blog post Really? Panasonic X zooms may not be f/2.8? 1 month, 1 week ago · View
These two lenses are really different at least in terms of use or can be looked at as a single lens package from a marketing standpoint. How the final product turns out will be determined 100% by the marketing and finance departments. Obviously they are meant to retain existing MFT users who might be considering [...]

Robert de Buys commented on the blog post GF3 gets hacked! And now in Stock for $439 with X pancake zoom! 1 month, 3 weeks ago · View
The main advantage of the hack is the encoding. A hacked camera encodes less compressed video. The downside is less reliable video function. Some scenes may be too detailed for the camera to keep up with and the video is lost. A hacked GH2 can yield sharper, cleaner video than a 5d but the hype [...]

Robert de Buys commented on the blog post After the GF2 also the GF3 could be hacked soon… 2 months, 3 weeks ago · View
Android is open source….So in a way you are correct they don’t allow hacking…wait…huh? Panasonic sets up their camera to work within a target reliability. Sometimes my hacked GH1 will fail. It wouldn’t be a good idea to release the camera to the general public if it wasn’t 100% reliable to record video when the [...]

Robert de Buys commented on the blog post Panasonic: “very high-end model” mirrorless camera coming this year! (…GH3) 3 months, 1 week ago · View
I have a GH1 and chose to spend money on the 25/1.4, 20/1.7, and 45/1.8. The GH2 AF100 proved that Panasonic is taking the format seriously enough to put money in what really matters, glass. I have been tempted by the GH2 for the live HDMI output, better video capabilities and touch screen rack focus [...]
