When you are a conglomerate, there would be pieces of bad parts in the system from time to time. That is why Companies restructure all the time. Chop away the bad parts and reorganise and push ahead again. Its part and parcel of business. Its not a matter of culture and Japanese Culture itself is [...]

We need to understand what the make up of the $10billion losses. In the Sony losses, half of it relates to tax credits which are merely accounting paper gains in the past that they decided to write off as losses now. These paper pains are non cash items. For the Panny losses, there would be [...]

Compared to NEX , yes , the m4/3 sensor is not 2 x from NEX. But i believe we are all talking about 35mm equivalent as the benchmark. NEX is 1.5, and m4/3 is 2x in 35mm regards. Isnt that so ? And why doesnt the NEX gets the sweet spot ? Technically, you can [...]

I doubt he was shaking the camera. He merely zoomed in and out. Not sure if the jumpy exposure is due to the new 5 axis stablisation.

I dont think we should push it all to Admin for all the disappointments. He is merely doing what he is doing for a rumour site. If not for his works, would we been kept up to date with 4/3 developments ? A rumour is a rumour, it is not meant to be taken as [...]

atarandas commented on the blog post The 50 greatest cameras of all time (by PhotographyMonthly) 3 months, 3 weeks ago · View
This list is pretty much hype , controversial and meaningless. Much like those magazines that feature the top 50 eligible men . top 50 models. Good materials to flood the headlines, but nothing substantial.
The greatest cameras are those that we have owned and enjoy shooting with.

atarandas commented on the blog post Panasonic GX1 multiple reviews. (most expensive Oly lens for sale at Olymarket) 3 months, 4 weeks ago · View
Well the dynamic range and small sensor on the panny is already a natural disadvantage. But overall it is still a very good performer. The only down side is the value to price proposition. It does cost alot more than the NEX.

being a G3 user, I have no doubt on the quality of this GX1. The review is fair comparing apple to apple.
If the 25mm 1.4 prime is used on the Panny, the reviewer could easily used the Carl Zeiss 24mm 1.8. I doubt the results would be much different.

atarandas commented on the blog post Sony wants to buy a 20-30% stake of Olympus 3 months, 4 weeks ago · View
Cmon guys, its only 30% stake in Olympus, significant control for sure. But Sony still doesnt own Olympus.
It will be interesting to see how this Sony Olympus alliance pans out though, if both shareholders approve the investment.

The solution is out there, just that its not perfect. The 4/3 lens are different in nature, unless Oly releases a dual mount system, you wont get a perfect compatibility use for 4/3 lens.
