Yes, I fell for the hype that this was going to be an extraordinary Panasonic lens of exceptional capability and quality. It was to replace the Olympus 40-150mm lens with a plastic lens mount. Disappointment! As the reviews come in, it seems like the same hype is surrounding the new Panasonic 35-100mm X lens. All of this makes me leery of considering any new Panasonic lens until the reviews are in and prices settle down.

9 months ago |It is unsettling to see a lens that I purchased for $450 such a short time ago, selling for $199…I do not think I have seen an MFT lens drop so precipitously in price. Perhaps it is due to the documented problems with the IS that the lens has not been selling (it obviously would not be offered at this price if sales were good). Since I updated the firmware on mine it has been a great performer..so if anyone is on the fence about the lens…don’t worry…I would say this is a great deal on an extremely compact zoom tele, with very decent (not stellar), image quality!

9 months ago |That’s a big discount on the 45-175! Personally I think that price is what I think it should be regularly; its OIS problems and middling IQ makes its regular price too high. $200 is about right.

9 months ago |Geez, that’s a good deal for 45-175. Too bad it got such bad reviews and problems. It’s like the 45-200 all over again. You want to like it, but can’t. Panasonic is so disappointing. You can’t count on buying anything from them unless it’s been out for a while and tested by users. Never preorder anything from them.

9 months ago |I picked up the lens. Gonna be here tomorrow. I couldn’t pass up the $199 price, especially since I had a $50 Amazon gift card. Unfortunately, they just started charging sales tax in CA.
So, for bigger ticket items, it’ll be B&H from now on, despite the longer delivery times.
The GF3 is not worth it to me. It’s just too small. I had one, but sold it after a few months at a loss, and picked up a GX1 instead, which is much more comfortable to hold. However, the GF3 might be good for someone as a gift for a female spouse or a child. The IQ is quite good. I just couldn’t get a proper grip on it, even though my hands aren’t very large.

9 months ago |In America you can get the GF3 with 14mm pancake for $300, so I don’t see the same price for the crappy kit being all that “special” of a deal. It is a great deal though. I guess the point is the GF3 is hands down the best deal in m4/3 right now. Body only, crappy kit, or good 14mm kit are all available at super deals.
