As you probably know I am continually checking the new Panasonic and Olympus patents. Today I found something crazy. I really didn’t know that Panasonic do make toilets!

3 years ago |Pany is being very ingenious. You don’t have any idea what they are patenting? Think again. It just may be a possible concept of a swing up EVF which could be used in a m4/3 without increasing its size or overall height. It is hinged at the top and the back side of toilet is shaped just like the bottom attachment to existing EVFs. The toilet bowl is where the eyepiece would be but a cover would be provided for when not in use. Even the narrowing prism shape of an EVF would allow attachment of a flash to square up the unit to what is now facing down so you could have EVF and Flash all in one unit taking no additional space in a compact format and you wouldn’t even see it when not in use. Maybe we will see this in one of their new models as rumored will be able to swing?

3 years ago |Come on 43rumor you can give us a little more Panasonic news than just this? Only one day before expected major Pany opening of center for new G and L lines and you still are giving us no rumors to what these might be either as to existing shape or new rangefinder or if LX replacement is just mod or all new or possible low end m4/3 as the new Oly teaser? This is supposed to be both a Oly and Panasonic site so please give us more leaked Pany rumors and photos or sketches and let us make our own conclusions even if you won’t.

3 years ago |The “National” brand used by Panasonic is very well known throughout Asia producing consumer appliances, home appliances (rice cookers, toilets, dryers etc. etc.), and industrial appliances. Think GE and their scope of products, except National was well thought of for their quality and reliability. Audio visual stuff was sold via the Panasonic brand. Not sure why but things coming into the US (North America) and possibly others that would be branded “National” everywhere else was branded Panasonic. Maybe naming rights? Anyhow, sometime a few years ago they got rid of the “National” brand and everything is now under the “Panasonic” brand name. So, toilets were made by Panasonic (under one brand or another) for decades before digital cameras even existed.
