GF5 is now shipping to Europe and USA…

Oh, I didn’t forget that little sexy new Panasonic GF5 :)  The camera just shipped to first Europea and American stores. The picture on top is from the dutch store FotoHansKeuzakamp. The body only is priced at 621 Euro at Amazon France. It’s a nice cameras but I feel like the recent GF3 price drops may will make it hard to justify the extra price you have to pay for the GF5. For example the GF3 body only costs a little over 300 Euro here a Digitech on eBay (Click here) and with the 14-42mm lens 379 Euro again on eBay (Click here). And we Europeans as usual will get even more frustrated when checking the USA price of the GF3: You cna get the body for $249 only (180 Euro!) in Black (Click here), White (Click here) and Red (Click here).

      How about GX1.
      I own one.

I know GF1 was best. but Honestly GX1’s better than GF1. no offense though.

    GX-1?

GF product line split up into GF3/5 (cheap camera with 100% optimization on small size) and GX1 (high quality enthusiast’s camera).

By the way: I like my GF3 very much. As a DSLR user, it is the optimal complement to my Nikon gear (if used with a small set of primes: 14/20/45).

I liked the GF3’s design, but you can clearly see that the GF5 is just a GF3 with a grip slapped on. I guess the next GF camera will have a better thought out design (again). Curious if the G5 will look like the faked image showed. Seemed promising, yet very different from G3.

The LCD is a monumental step from the stupid Panny LCD though. It’s about time that our dedicated imaging equipment to start reducing the huge gap with the smarphones’ amazing HD LCDs.

I picked up an old Nex-3 in a store the other day and the screen was so much better than on my GF1/2

We haven’t seen many GF5 reviews. We have still to see whether the new sensor delivers the promised improvement in image quality.

    Admin:

Sorry, the price GF-5 at ~449 Euros. GX-1 a 90 more (basically the difference of a Panasonic battery! ;) ).

  • When will Panny provide sensors with 14 bit/color ???

  • Neither DPR nor imaging-resource.com has yet posted GF5’s studio IQ test. :(

I bought a gf3 with 14mm lens and Lightroom included for 250 pounds with 50 pounds cash back here in the uk a week ago, so 200 pounds all in once the cash back was paid. This is an incredible price when you consider how much it costs to buy them separately. The place I got mine from have sold out but John Lewis and Argos were selling them only slightly more expensively. The cash back is available for gf3s bought before the end of may.
