(FT5) Panasonic is ready to launch the new DMC-FP1…(FT3) with backlight sensor?
We have no specs about that camera, but we know that a new DMC-FP1 compact camera is coming soon (January?). Why should that camera be interesting? The camera (FT3) could be the first to use the new Panasonic backlight sensor!
Just a reminder: Rumors classification
(FT 1) Only a dream (FT 2) Sounds a little more real (FT 3) Could be (FT 4) Possible, from trusted sources (FT 5) It’s done! FT= Four Thirds

3 years ago |The question is: why use an improved sensor in a camera which probably is aimed at an audience that cares less about image quality than about the size, shape and color of the camera itself? I see two possibilities:
- The first is that FP1 is just the next camera in line and all Panasonic cameras will eventually get the new sensor.
- The second is that the improved sensibility makes it possible to use an even smaller sensor than usual, retaining the image quality but reducing the size of the optics and thereby the overall size of the camera.
The new sensor could be just a rumour, though. We’ll see.
