(FT5) Olympus announcement next week.

Sources confirmed that there will be an Olympus products announcement next week. But they also confirm that the “Big teaser” from GetOlympus is for the XZ-10 and not for a new MFT camera. The XZ-10 will certainly be a nice compact camera but we were expecting a bit more from what GetOlympus defined as a “Big Announcement”.
Anyway, along the XZ-10 we will have other new compact camera models and the new updated and cheaper 75-300mm II MFT lens.
That’s just my speculation but I guess Olympus new MFT camera with integrated EVF had to be delayed a bit because Epsons new 2,36 Million dot EVF mass production just started this week.

4 months ago |Admin, is it definitely confirmed that there will be a new Olympus m4/3 camera with built-in EVF coming in the next few months?
I am looking to upgrade from my E-PL1 this year. I decided to skip the OM-D E-M5 because I prefer the PEN design and simplicity. I’m hoping that there will be an E-P5 successor or similar. Maybe it will even surpass the OM-D in some ways. If Olympus cannot deliver such a camera this year, I will have to look at other options (probably Fuji X). Panasonic doesn’t seem motivated to make a GX2 with EVF or L1 m4/3 remake/successor. But I hope I can stay with m4/3 as it’s the best overall option for me.

And u need to know that EM5 is damn faster and better than any FUJI !!!!

4 months ago |I just prefer the RF styled cameras with an EVF in the TLC. It is just more to my liking and preferences. A PEN is a PEN. An OM-D is an OM-D. They are different lines in Olympus’ legacy and now digital formats. I’m sure there are many others who see things similarly.
Fuji X is doing a lot right and it ticks a few boxes for me, but it still hasn’t reached a point of maturity yet where I would be fully confident in investing in it. Especially as just an enthusiast/hobbyist. But it’s still only a year old system. I wouldn’t rule it out just yet. The AF is not as sophisticated as m4/3 for sure. Lenses are very few at this stage but what is available and on the roadmap is potential for a great long term system. The Fuji IQ is the real drawcard after all. I am very noise averse and the X-Trans presents a very smooth, virtually noise free rendition even high into the ISO range. Now, how they are doing that is irrelevant to me. Whether it’s through HW or SW trickery, it’s the output that counts for me. The RAW conversion is a major problem right now. But hopefully that will be fixed soon.
If you look beyond the rumorsites, there is a lot of respect and cross-platform interest between users of OM-D and X-Pro1/X-E1. I think the two platforms compliment each other well. There is not that animosity as there is between m4/3 and NEX and m4/3 and FF DSLR. If I could afford to maintain two systems, I would most probably go for m4/3 and Fuji X. I am not interested in FF.

4 months ago |Any chance there willl be a large sensor in the xz-10? Otherwise this is just marketing nonsense.
Narretz
4 months ago |I think admin reported that the Xz-10 will be smaller. My guess: sensor size stays the same, overall camera becomes smaller. XZ-3 gets a bigger sensor.

4 months ago |I’d say that the XZ-10 has potential to be quite interesting depending on how small it is. It could be the first real competitor for canons s-series. A truly pocket-able camera with high end image quality (for a point and shoot)

4 months ago |XZ-10 rumoured price is $399 so I doubt there will be a larger sensor than 1/1.7″. Probably a simplified XZ-2: no flip-down screen, but maybe a fixed touchscreen, more connectivity options, smaller to compete with Canon S110, Fuji X-F1. Don’t see how this is the “big annoucement”. Wonder what else will be announced at CP+.

4 months ago |I would be interested in an XZ-10 as long as I can mount my VF-2 on it. Would be a nice date / party camera.

4 months ago |Why would anyone expect a big new product from a single announcement on a Facebook page? Prior to the EM-5 launch, Olympus did a lot of viral marketing (remember the puzzle pictures?), so I think we can expect something more elaborate before the new m43 cmaera i announced.

4 months ago |Your suggestion that a 4/3 lens can be successfully integrated on a future m4/3 camera might upset the lawn bowls brigade. You know, some of them might break a disc in their back just by reading your comment.

4 months ago |Please Olympus, more fantastic primes. I notice that I’m using my cheap Panasonic 45-200 more and more, I’m starting to want longer/faster telephoto. 300/4? 200/2.8?

4 months ago |admin, are you sure it is going to be 75-300 II and not 75-300 R? With 14-42 II they updated and improved optical formula, with II R they just changed style.

4 months ago |If XZ10 is with m43 sensor, probably it’s kinda “BIG” announcement.
