(FT5) Compact cameras only at CES (from Olympus)

More trusted sources confirmed that Olympus will have an announcement on early January but there will be new compact cameras only. Major new MFT announcements will be made in late January. And I am still not 100% sure but also Panasonic should announce compact cameras only yet.
Coming back to Olympus, one new Camera and one new lens could be announced in late January. The cameras is “completely new” while the lens specs are unknown yet.

5 months ago |There is always something newer and better just over the horizon… if you wait for it, you’ll be waiting forever and never get to take pictures.
Rather, decide for yourself if what you can buy now will let you take the pictures you want for a price you can afford.

5 months ago |They only announced compacts last (early) January (10th Jan 2012). I don’t other things were announced till later (actually 8th Feb 2012), so it is no surprise they are doing the same this year.

5 months ago |I’m intrigued about that new lens. A normal FL version of the 45/1.8 would be nice, although a sealed 50-200 f/4-5.6 is already a bit overdue.

5 months ago |If I really need to get a compact , the incoming X20 top or the current X100 of my list . Forget about Olympus or Pana’s compact .

5 months ago |Just a faithful reader delurking to say thanks to admin for all the work that goes into this site. As for compacts, the XZ-1 is still a go-to compact for me. I’d like to see the equivalent of the XZ-2 with the 1″ sensor like the RX100.

5 months ago |That is what I want(XZ-1/2 with a 1 inch sensor). Give it a F2/2.5/2.8 – 2.8/3.2, 28-120mm lens and i’d be a happy camper. I would prefer a constant 2.5/2.8 lens. With a Sony 1 inch 16mp amazing sensor. I would pay $700-800 for it no problem. Same lay out as the XZ-2, but slightly thicker(you could even remove the articulated screen!). Having the same EVF as the EM-5 would be icing on the cake. If it has that built in with no art. screen, it would be my perfect camera.
