(FT4) Panasonic to expand GF lineup over the next few months (dpreview forum)
A dpreview forum user (“prochembro“) have been asked by Panasonic to participate in a marketing survey. He asked Panasonic if they’re going to launch two new GF style models. The answer by a Panasonic engineer was: “It should come as no surprise that we’ve noticed the latest market trends and see what our M43 customers want. Given that, I cannot disclose any detailed info regarding your question. However, all I can say is that the GF line will expand and will be our main focus over the next few months.”
We from 43rumors already revealed that Panasonic is working on a very compact GF model like the Sony NEX-5 but with much better ergonomy and usability. We have three important sources confirming that it will be announced during the next months (very likely by very early 2011). But we also believe that there could be a GF model with built-in viewfinder (click here to see the Panasonic patent).
In summary, the GH2 will be announced on September 21. The ultra-compact GF a few months after Photokina (between December-February) and than another more advanced GF model will follow (we don’t have any info now about that camera yet).
Feel free to share your rumors using the form on the right sidebar. You can avoid to give me your name and email address. You can also contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com. Every little help…helps!
Thanks!

2 years ago |1) Is there really going to be a “GH2 sensor”?
2) Is that sensor going to be in the E-5?

2 years ago |We currently don’t even know if there’s going to be a “GH2 sensor”.
9 days left until the E-5 announcement…

2 years ago |good to hear the rangefinder styled gf is not dead. That makes me very happy. I find the sony cameras way too small but I see there is a lot of demand for Panasonic cameras of that size on this forum and others like it. I am just glad that it looks like Panasonic is also listening to the people like me who want the size of the camera to stay the same. I know these are just rumors at this point.

2 years ago |it seems like there hasn’t been a lot of solid rumors about the GH2 and photokina is in a couple weeks. How are we so sure there will even be a GH2?

Any updated rumors on the Panasonic lenses???
MK
2 years ago |nope sorry. have been waiting forever for photokina with baited breath. FT(5) i will be buying something in oct/nov. FT(3) the only way for them to possibly prevent this is to produce something more concrete than “will expand in next few months”. I have some brand loyalty… but not that much unfortunately

2 years ago |This sounds like good news, if vague. Concretely, I would like to know what the kit lens of the new GF camera(s) will be. Any news on that would be welcome. Speculation seems to be that at least one of these cameras will have the 14mm/2.5 lens. But on which camera?

2 years ago |I’m also waiting like hell for some gf2 announcement. either buying gf1 or gf2… but obviously i dont want to buy a high priced cam to realize a month later there’s a much better model.

2 years ago |How are they going to make these new GFs small? How will they fit in a VF? maybe they need to remove something- could these be shutterless? Will the GH2 be the first shutterless cam? Answers on a postcard……..

2 years ago |That one with the built-in viewfinder had better be large enough to be usable (both the viewfinder and the camera). That is the camera I am waiting for; but if it’s smaller than the gf1, I am not interested.

2 years ago |@ Luke :
Maybe you’re right, cause I havn’t got GF1, never tried it (I have got a GH1)
You might be more specialist than me.
Do you think the good size is like GF1? (not bigger I hope)
Luke
2 years ago |@gekopaca – I can work with it at gf1 size…slightly larger to accomodate a LARGE viewfinder and dials and switches with normal size hands for good ergonomics would be welcome. None of these cameras are truly pocketable, so I don’t know why they pretend.
I’m even fine with one being G1 or GH1 size…..I’d just like for it to be good looking and not look like an SLR. I think the old L1 or LC1 would be a great look.

I think too

Just amazed about how often…
- People mention their taste about “Leica” look
- People don’t care about small size
- People simply want a M43 LC1 with same serious but slimmer body and nice small lens mostly available
Would Panasonic provide that, it’s success for sure !
Now Admin, why not set up a petition with all of us and send it directly to Panny and, maybe, Oly ?
Congratulations however for your site.

Luke
2 years ago |Amen! And I don’t consider myself a poor man. I just don’t have $8 – $12 THOUSAND dollars to spend putting together a system.

2 years ago |Come to think of it, I’m not sure that making the GF cameras the main focus over the next few months means producing a new camera or cameras in two or three months. If they are still asking marketing questions like built in flash vs sensor quality, then maybe the cameras are farther away than that.
If Panasonic asked me, I would say that a good sensor is more important than a built in flash. Noise is not everything, but a better sensor would help. And I want detail, not blurry in camera noise reduction. Want pancake lenses like the 20mm/1.7 that I can use in lower light without a flash.
It would be an interesting choice between a GF1 sized camera with built in EVF, and a more compact camera that would be a bit less obtrusive for street photography. Both sound great.
Luke
2 years ago |I don’t know where people plan on putting a decent sized EVF in a body the size of a gf1. And anyone that wants a viewfinder wants a good one. Make the camera a little bigger and give us a KILLER viewfinder…..end of discussion.
Arkersaint
2 years ago |@ Luke : I Fully agree
@ Milt : Compact cam with EVF is not a question of size, just a question of symbolic… To look DSLR or not to look DSLR, that is the main question !
@ Admin : What about the expressed idea to stream requests ? I would be pleased to provide it’sterms in appropriate english ?
With best regards

Government continues to become diminishing the matter with no pondering the future in the young kids. Even though it is a new routine concern, and then exactly why Government is certainly not thinking of this issue severely? Another troubles such since instructional infrastructure and employ superior educators with very good income is usually taken into account. When we are appointing great educators just for this program, we should believe regarding the opposite side regarding this coin (i. electronic good compensation).
