I’m not loving the weird square black grip. I guess we were all hoping for something a little more classic/retro looking. this looks nice, but it looks more like a big point and shoot than a rangefinder. I was kind of hoping for the grip band across the entire front, like on the prototype… sigh
Anything about a viewfinder? There has to be a large group of potential buyers that won’t spend $1,000 on a camera (even with a lens) then be forced to compose at arms length on a screen. I, for example, was about to buy a G1 until I started reading the rumors about the Olympus imminent release, but if there is no viewfinder option (one that adjusts to the lens) I’ll stick with the G1. Got to be others like me so I hope Olympus does not screw this up.
Hi admin(s), if you say that this looks close to the real front but it is close but not exact, it would be nice for you to mention in what it is supposed to differ from the real one
Dan, yes. The two cameras will use exactly the same mount.
Aperture control and autofocus will definitely work. The only question is how well the OIS will be supported. On regular 4:3, mainly because it is not a part of the standard, Panny optical stabilization only works in “mode 1″ (always on) with Olympus dSLRs. Of course Olympus prefers in-body stabilization.
I am very disappointed about the lack of a built-in flash. I mean come on.. if Sigma can do it with the DP series, so can Olympus. I’m not getting a camera that fits in my pocket but requires me to carry around a flash!!!
Very underwhelmed. It looks cheap. That black grip patch has to go. It just has to. It looks is utterly absurd.
Olympus are you listening?!?
Need to make the bottom portion all black leaving the top, silver.
Alternatively, need to use that black (or beige) patch and wrap it entirely around camera body, ala the original mockup.
