(FT2) Panasonic LX4 to be announced before the compact MFT?
We are going to see both cameras this year, the LX4 and the compact MFT from Panasonic. And now it seems the LX4 is going to be announced first. There is a fair chance that Panasonic will announce the LX4 soon. How soon? Maybe in the next 1-2 weeks!
(FT2) Specs (sent us from a new source):
LX4 uses backside ilumination
LiveMOS 1/1.3 inch
and summicron lens (no interchangeable lens!)
Question: How big is a 1/1.3 inch sensor compares the 1/1.6 inch sensor?

3 years ago |Wouldn’t that be a lovely move for Panasonic? A year after launching the LX3, for which they can’t keep up with demand, let alone supply the promised accessories for, they announce a successor. Maybe instead they should announce supporting the products they sell.

3 years ago |The 1/1.3″ is almost 12% bigger than 1/1.6″

Width 10.4 mm
Height 9.6 mm
Area 81.12 mm^2
I wonder how close my approximation is to the real dimensions.

3 years ago |1.6/1.3 = 1.23.
.
1.6″ and 1.3″ are the diagonal of the format, for the area of the sensor the diference is 1.23 * 1.23 = 1.51.
The 1/1.3″ sensor is more than 50% bigger that the 1/1.6″ sensor !!!
And the 1/1.3″ is back illuminated : more gain of sensitive area
Enjoy the progress
