(FT3) New Olympus announcement on March 2th?
Last month a new anonymous source sent us the following message “Next Olympus announcements : 8/2 and 2/3“. He were right with the first date (Olympus announced the SZ-10, the VG-110 and the 3D VR-330) so he might be right with the second date too! We already told you that we expect new Micro Four Thirds stuff to be announced late May only but…..let’s hope we are wrong 
Meanwhile Forum Olympus France found three new Olympus compact camera design patents:
Camera one
Camera two
Camera three
Could be that those are the cameras Olympus will announce next week (Wednesday)?

3 years ago |Where are the high-end enthusiast cameras? Come on already, Oly and Panny are missing the boat. They have done enough entry level, bring out the real deal. Mag-alloy, weather sealed, rangefinder-esq body with built-in evf with a couple really nice, fast primes and a zoom that are also weather sealed. Get off the pot! Take the hype generated by the X100, steal the ball and run with it.

3 years ago |Hype is one thing, sales will be another. At the expected price of the x100, those “hotcakes” won’t be very large.

3 years ago |You’re kidding. The X100 is already a success. They have good marketing alright. But more that that their product is good and they are taking a market slot with a huge demand that other manufacturers (Pana, Oly ?) have decided not to bother about now… but maybe later… but how do we know anyway since they do not have a clear roadmap? (cf the delayed oly pro m43 annoucement and the cancelled rangefinderesque Panasonic).

3 years ago |Oly and Panny are shooting themselves in the foot. IMHO, the bleeding will not stop because they don’t understand their market niche. Not to mention their marketing issues. They need to let their Sales and R&D run the show. Finance and Management need to get out of the way.

3 years ago |This replaces last years highend non einthusait p&s range they should just let panasonic dominate this sector with there tz range and not try and compete like they have with xz-1 , this part off the 2011 compact range it should not be put down because its not mft .
This announcement might also go some way to reassure some recent debate off future models being uncompetative
