(FT2) Double Olympus announcement in February and March?
Not a single of our trusted sources gave us any possible Olympus or Panasonic product announcement day. But a new source just sent us the following rumor: “Next olympus announcements : 8/2 and 2/3“.
As you know the japaneses biggest show, the CP+ is starting on February the 9th. I hope to have more info soon.
P.S.: Olympus should announce a few pro lenses and a new pro camera within the first half of the year. And Panasonic will announce the G3 and a bunch of new lenses.

2 years ago |Anybody uses Olympus camera with Panasonic’s lenses and can confirm advantages or disadvantages of such configuration? I plan to switch to newer camera from my G1 an if this FT2 will eventualy come true I can wait for Olympus body, but now I have Lumix lenses (4 of them) and I wonder if they really work with Olympus cameras flawlessly.
I’d be grateful for any comment on this.

2 years ago |They work fine (I only have the 20mm). With stabilized lenses, you will have to choose between lens O.I.S and in-body I.S because simultaneous activation causes some conflicts.

2 years ago |Oly cameras detect the OIS on panny’s lenses? or do you just have to know to switch it on of off?

2 years ago |I have an Olympus e-P1 and Pana 20mm and 100-300 – it works great. There is som PAN processing of images you miss, but nothing you can’t correct in f.i. Lightroom. If you work in jpg, the Olympus processing is excellent.

2 years ago |I use 7-14mm and 20mm it’s a good combo but I don’t think Oly corrects chroma for the 7-14 if you’re a JPEGer.

2 years ago |AFAIK oly don’t correct abberation currently, but since this year it will start to correct it.
Admin, is there some indication that new body will correct aberation directly in the firmware?

2 years ago |I don’t like the sound of this…. If it starts to correct chromatic aberration with software, it means they’re going to issue cheap lenses that need it…. What’s the point of buying Olympus if its lenses are not going to be optically correct?
Spoo
2 years ago |Ummm… I don’t believe it was Olympus lenses that were being talked about here… it’s the Panny ones. So if anyone is building “cheap” lenses that need CA correction in-camera, it is Panasonic, and if Olympus chooses to support CA compensation it is not because of the inferiority of Olympus products. HAVING SAID THAT… I love my 20/1.7 combo with my E-P2, and the lack of CA compensation on the Oly body is not an issue for me.

2 years ago |The main reason I think of switching to Olympus is to stop using RAW files in fact – I have found Olympus JPEGs more appealing than Panasonic converted RAWs.

2 years ago |As sneye says, they work fine. I use the 20mm 1.7 as well, plus the 45mm 2.8, 24mm 2.5 and 14-45mm kit zoom on my E-P2 using it’s in-body I.S. I also use them on my G1 with O.I.S switched on as required.

or discomfort in use.
@ GreyOwl
As I see You use both configurations that are of my concern.
Do you find any significant differences in using mixed setups? I’m not a perfectionist but I’d like not to sacrifice the IQ, AF speed/accuracy etc that can cause “bad feelings”

I would say that there are no major differances, apart from minor AF speed differances, which do not bother me at all. It is all a matter of getting used to each camera/lens combination and finding what suits you style of photography.

So I can wait and see Olympus camera.
YeahYeah
2 years ago |Anything about the sensor?
YeahYeah
2 years ago |I mean EP3′s sensor
juavel
2 years ago |Let me guess which… same one?
napalm
2 years ago |probably the same. to be honest I think images from E-5 and E-PL2 are already pretty good. it’s better to see improvements in other things like a built-in/hybrid viewfinder, electronic shutter, better IS, faster focusing with 4/3 lenses, etc.
YeahYeah
2 years ago |Yup, but can you imagine that? A probably 1000$ camera with a 3yo sensor?
=/

2 years ago |I am so sick of this issue that I could puke. The only reason Olympus is stuck with the old sensor is that Panasonic has them by the short hairs with an exclusive supply agreement, and refuses to let them use the newer technology. Considering what Oly has done with processing to squeeze the absolute most out of a standard production sensor, I don’t blame Panny. Imagine what Olympus will be able to do when they finally get their hands on newer tech – it will undoubtedly smoke anything coming out of Panasonic software labs.

2 years ago |I’m assuming it will use the improved sensor that Panasonic should finally deliver in the G3.

2 years ago |Admin – Any more news of the G3 or GF3? You implied in your earlier responses to questions about the G3 that you knew more but waiting for confirmation? Any additional news even if FT3 would be appreciated!

2 years ago |I’m looking forward to a pro m4/3 body to come out, if for no other reason than I think it will cause the price of the E-5 to come down. So hopefully this rumor proves to be true.

2 years ago |If I only knew a little bit about that pro body.. the size, the price.. I’m missing a viewfinder on my e-p1 and next month with my holiday to the Caribbean, I’m thinking of buying the e-pl2 with vf2, but I don’t knowww.
