(FT1) Canon to join MicroFourThirds?
Valentín Sama, Spanish photographer who published more than one significant scoop in the past says that Canon will join MicroFourThirds.

4 years ago |But that’s not what the blog that you are citing says. He says he’s heard a “major player” will join m43. Some laugh that it could be Canon. The author says it could happen “much later” but that he doesn’t know.
I love rumor sites, but this is serious, serious non-news. Not even rumor. Just a blogger speculating, and admitting it’s just a throw-away comment.

4 years ago |I would be greatly entertained to see this. It’d be a smart move for canon if they’re looking to get into the EVIL camers division without having to launch a ton of lenses or look dinky next to Pany and Oly. Better than samsung’s wild bet.

4 years ago |Oh it’s not a doubt that Canon will sooner or later come up with a similar design but it will never be m43. Why would they join? They have enough research capability to come up with an own standard..

4 years ago |if it is true that will become a shocking news!. personally why not isn’t it? rather then spending on a new technology might as well they join the micro 4/3 consortium… probably they just need to design and sell the body and let panasonic, leica, sigma and olympus develop the lens…

4 years ago |It’s possible that Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony will all release mirrorless APS-C cameras in 2010 (similar to the Samsung NX10).
Although it’s more likely that FujiFilm will join the 4/3rds fold.

I perfectly understand the incredibility of this possibility, because I had the same reaction when I first read this in Valentin Sama’s blog.
Now let me tell you that this photographer has a very strong reputation, and he’s showed several times to have access to first rate inside information in the world of photography. This does not prove anything, all I’m saying is that Valentin Sama is not a crazy blogger, or a rumour geek: he’s a very serious person, and when he posted this, I’m sure he has his reasons for so doing.
Just saying; time will tell if he was right or wrong (and for the record, I only translated in my blog part of the information, which was mentioned then in noisycameras; the author of all the content is Valentín Sama, not me).
