No way to pay overpriced amount for a G3.
Hope the Amazon will have normal price soon.

11 months ago |I received mine yesterday from Amazon UK. I paid MSRP (or whatever the pre-order price was … 630 GBP) but already it’s discounted 70 quid off that. Like I care, I HAVE MY CAMERA!
Bear in mind I’ve not used anything more than a full featured (ie manual contrl) compact in years. first impressions are spot on. matched with the 20/1.7 which I got at the same time, it will be an ideal carry around, smaller than my old FZ30 and oh boy that lens compared the the FZ’s zoom at everyting except being zoomy!
The VF is great, really bright and clear, again streets ahead of the FZ EVF.
Custom Function buttons there are 2. Both on the back, normally DISP and Qmenu respectively. These are quite small and FN1 is flush to the camera body so it will take a while to get their use dialled in. I wish the other (iA, video, playback) could also be retasked but there you go
first impressions of AF is good, almost instant with the 20/1.7
Touch screen is resistive (boo) but seems to work well enough (but why the hell can’t they spring for a capacitive TS on a 600 quid camera…?)
Feel is really solid, you get the impression of a severely high quality build. So far I’m happy as a pig in sh1t .. now I just need to go out and use the thing!

11 months ago |I cannot afford UK price so I’ll order it from US as soon as i’s possible and ask a friend to bring it for me across the ocean.
James
11 months ago |don’t blame you. I could have had it shipped from the US through a mate’s APO addy but I couldn’t wait!

Bomberesque
11 months ago |kkyim1; reviews tend to say it’s similar to the GH2 AF speed (and faster than the G2)

11 months ago |You have to respect Kenmore Camera (in the Seattle area) for being apparently the first in the USA with the G3, and not taking advantage of it. If message board posts be true, they sold dozens of them over the weekend… mine’s on the truck and “out for delivery” today, so that’s at least a sample of one, sold for list price, to an appreciative (and likely repeat) customer.
