First SLR Magic Toy Lens test (+ Panasonic 100-300mm and 14mm price drops)
Nikkorexf posted a first set of image sampels on flickr (Click here) taken with the new 26mm f/1.4 lens from SLRmagic. I would say that those samples are not so bad as I would have expectedform a lens with that price Click here to see the lens on eBay.
But if you are looking for real good quality lenses you should take a look at the two new Panasonic lenses, They are getting the first price drops!
The Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 is now in Stock at Amazon (Click here) for $565.57 only. That’s -$35!
And also the Panasonic Lumix 14mm f/2.5 has a $22 discount and is now in Stock for $378 at Amazon (Click here).
Hot deal reminder: Panasonic GF1 body only is in Stock for $299 at Amazon (Click here)!

3 years ago |35$ is not a huge price drop, especially compared to the 250$ price drop of 7-14 and 14-140, Panasonic really kills its potential 2nd hand market and thats why people would be afraid to invest $$ on system that constantly looses value, even in optics

3 years ago |This toy lens looks ideal for portraits. The edge unsharpness is there even if the edges are in focus, concentrates nicely on the center part of the image.

3 years ago |I was hoping the expensive Magic Toy lens would behave differently than the Chinese ~$30 Fujian CCTV lens, but it seems practically the same. I was hoping the SLR Magic would have at least sharper corners, but it’s the same. Even the bokeh is the same messy/swirly thing. After seeing some samples, I might as well pick up the way cheaper Fujian one.

3 years ago |All the test shots I took on the Flickr site were done wide open, by the way, to emphasize the swirly bokeh. When you stop it down, it’s really not bad at all!

3 years ago |Pretty sure they’re the same lens. I too have a 25mm f1.4 and C-mount adaptor on order – far cheaper in the UK than the SLR Magic variant – really looking forward to trying it out.
