3 years ago |The second image that you have posted is definitely not an LX5 render.
It is one of the original concept images of the GF1 (I think it might be an official Panasonic image but I’m not certain).
It’s been floating around the internet since at least August 2008.

3 years ago |Yep, I saw the second image about 1,5 year ago. People thought it was going to be the lx4/5 with interchangeable lenses but it was actually GF1 concept! Really does look nice though. I believe the design will be similar to the current one (lx3).
It will be interesting to see after LX3 is announced this month, if canon will bring out the s90 replacement in august.

3 years ago |If the LX5 ends up looking just like the first concept with a optical finder in the far upper corner then I would expect that it would have a smaller 2.7″ LCD screen in the middle and the lens would be a 24-72mm//f2-3.3 (35mm equivalent) with flash hot shoe mounted and optional hot shoe mounted high def EVF. This LX5 could alternatively have a body much like the size and dimensions of the Leica X1 with screen in the middle since Leica will be producing a similar model just put the optical finder where the flash is now and make the flash hot shoe mounted.
I would expect the LX5 and new fixed lens 4/3 sensor model to look very much alike and share common parts. I think the model with 4/3 sensor and fixed lens collapsing into body will be a 24-72/f3.5-5.6 and be priced about $600. The rumor says f2 3x but I believe there may perhaps be some confusion mixing the two models up and that the f2 applies only to the LX5? However there is no doubt what a fixed f2 in a small body is quite possible as well as a smaller f3.5 and I think Pany may be developing both within a year, one to capture the entry photographers while the one with the faster lens with semi pro specs for those with DSRLs and cost +$1000.
As noted the second model was what somebody conjured up before the introduction of the
GF1 possibly even one of the earlier prototypes. Still it is possible that Pany may be using this concept with a swing up optical finder that folds out of the way and have the flash and option EVF hot shoe mounted. Alternatively Pany will use this for the projected small lower priced m4/3 model with the new 14/f2.5 lens also rumored to be released near end of month?

3 years ago |The second rendering is not a concept image from Panasonic, it’s a private rendering of how an m43 LX4 could look. Pure speculation, that is.
