Dec 12: Q&A session about the GX1 at Imaging Resource!

You really don’t have to miss that! Imaging Resource (Click here) is hosting a live Q&A on the GX1. The Q&A itself will take place on the 12th at noon EST hete:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/GX1/GX1A.HTM#live-qa
Prepare your questions!!!!
And DCresource (Click here) posted the final GX1 review: “While the Lumix DMC-GX1 isn’t a big leap over the now the two year-old DMC-GF1, it doesn’t really have to be, as the GF1 was a very solid product“.

P.S.: The GX1 is already in Stock in Asia at Digitalrev (PAL version). It should arrive in Europe and USA by end of December: Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
Thanks Arthur

6 months ago |Q: Y u no make the camera we want?
More serious questions I’d like to see asked / answered:
Why can’t you implement / improve some simple things:
How about greater burst rate?
How about in camera HDR processing?
Why is there no option for auto ISO in M mode?
Don’t you have better LCDs after two years?
I honestly don’t think they will answer any critical question, or if they do the answers will be very evasive. The problem is that Panasonic’s communication with the people who really invested into the system is almost not existent, at least for US and Europe. So when a website has a good relationship with Pana, they will not threaten that by asking the really interesting questions. They will play it safe, so Panasonic doesn’t turn their back on them.

How about greater burst rate? for what purpose….
How about in camera HDR processing? people process HDR in different ways so best left to be done on computer…
Why is there no option for auto ISO in M mode? because M stands for manual mode….
Don’t you have better LCDs after two years? for what purpose, they are good enough already…

6 months ago |I agree with about the other 2 points (HDR best done in computer, and “M” is for manual), but I’d sure like a higher-res & higher-quality LCD & EVF on the forthcoming “GH3″!
Oh, and Panasonic, while you’re at it, a headphone jack and/or full-time live audio monitoring output via the USB/AV connector please!
And improve the dynamic range in the new “GH3″, too!
And add focus peaking please!
Meanwhile, thank you for my hackable GH1 & GH2!
Apologies for all the smilies, but just thinking about new features puts me in a good mood.
Cheers.

6 months ago |If so, they should state it right from the beginning, no question related to product feature and specification. All question should be about business, strategy and the big picture of G line in general.
Then like in Jurrasic Park 3, one by one the peoples with questions lowered their hand.

6 months ago |Yeah…and that is the way big corps and committees usually are …. So Panasonic has a pile of GF3′s sitting on the shelf and it can’t give them away for the holidays???? They were determined to build the camera that none of us wanted! LOL. No point in bringing any of that up. I am actually buying a GX1. I have only the GF1 and the GX1 has “just” enough improvements for me to make the plunge….(with a bad taste in my mouth though). I think the majority MFT hardcore will not buy this camera. (I want the higher rez optional VF and faster focusing).
Big companies just miss the point…Look at the mess Sony NEX is….it had so much promise…and it is sad what that has turned into…If I am going for files that large I am just using my FF DSLR…that whole lens situation is sad.
..at least MFT really has a LOT of AF lenses and with the right choices you can REALLY keep it so SMALL!!! Its amazing!
I would like to see a sensor with better dynamic range… 12MP or higher AND a faster frame rate….Apparently …if we could enlarge the Nikon V1 sensor..and keep all the speedy functions and put it in an MFT body.. we would have it ALL!!!!! LOL!

Agree. 10 MPx is enough. Such sensor would have better DR and high ISO as well.
Can anyone pass Aptina e-mail address to Olympus
?

6 months ago |Seeing that Panasonic didn’t really want to make the GX1 in the first place, they will likely blame poor sales on lack of user demand and redirect their resources to the lower end GFs lol

LOL!
(Thanks for the post. So, there is a nicer way to express things without using any expletives, after all!

There is no indication that this is with Panasonic on their website. It says that the Q&A is with the imaging-resource writers only.

6 months ago |Panasonic’s GX1 “interview” with dpreview was neither informative, nor entertaining.
Surefoot
6 months ago |If someone could at least ask these questions (i am not expecting an answer from Pana, but at least they’ll be aware of them):
“why no focus peaking ? NEX and GXR have it (and this is a sore point)”
“why no AVCHD2 ? NEX have it”
“why no tilt or swivel screen on a compact body ? NEX have it”
“why no clean HDMI out, not limited to 16/9 in photo mode ? This totally cripples the use of GH2 and such in a professional environment”
“why no OLED or at least high resolution LCD ?”
“why reducing the features of the GX1 if you wanted it to be a new high end enthusiast camera ?”
“why no integrated HDR / stacking / panorama ? everyone else has it”
“why no remote flash TTL control ? Olympus has it”
Bagual
6 months ago |I’m pretty sure you can make similar list of “Why no” for Sony or Olympus too.

6 months ago |Well, get a Sony then…..
I like the GX1 very much but it should have got faster burst rate!

6 months ago |Admin have you heard of a specific day in december the GX1 will be released, in the UK?? i have it on pre-order with jessops if that narrows the date down?!?

6 months ago |Instead of the pop up flash if they had put a decent EVF and priced it lower than the current GH-2 prices, it might have been tempting to take a look, provided there are no new batteries required and 3rd party batteries are usable.

6 months ago |I have always felt the same regarding the in-camera flash, but many others seem to like it for the ability to command off-camera flash. I personally don’t think there is enough room for both on the exterior of the camera body the size of the GX.
Vivek
6 months ago |For those who want a flash sync/command the hotshoe (freed up if there is an integrated EVF) can be used easily.

6 months ago |Admin,
Why don’t you say North America instead of USA only? Same like when you say Europe instead of saying Germany, UK or France.
There is a country called Canada! you know that, right?
julian
6 months ago |According to DPReview forums, the GX1 is already available from a few different Canadian retailers. Haven’t heard anyone say they’ve found it at US retailers yet though.

6 months ago |I’ve been thinking about upgrading my GF1 to GX, but I decided not doing it. The difference is too small, since I do not need zoom.
I’ll buy NEX5N for my old lenses and keep my GF1 for M43 lenses. I love 20mm and Oly 9-18mm. Both really good lenses and their size is so small.
