(FT3) Zone-10 says a High-End Olympus MicroFourThirds camera will be unveiled soon.

Zone-10 is starting the rumor game for 2010 ;)

By moving up the E-P2, this creates space for the model that I am projecting to come in the next few months. This projected model is not styled like the E-P1 or E-P2 but will be more “modern” in shape with a plastic body similar to that of a slightly downsized E-330. The recent financial reports coming out of Olympus indicate several new models of Micro FourThirds and FourThirds cameras coming out in the next few months. In fact, if history and financial disclosures are any indication, I am expecting a wholesale upgrade of ALL existing models in FourThirds. I am still expecting the next rash of cameras to have a higher pixel-count, possibly as high as 14.7MP.

Is that a Zone-10 speculation or do they know something we don’t know?

(FT4) Samyang is not going to produce lenses for FourThirds mount.

One of our 43rumors friends “D.B.” contacted the Samyang Assistant Manager and asked him:

Good Day .
i am interesting in Samyang Lens : 8mm fisheye
I know that you produce this lens for varius mounts – but Four Thirds mount ( Olympus and Panasonic DSLR )  is not among them
Do you have plans to produce this 8mm lens in Four Thirds mount ?
Do you plan to produce any other of your lenses ( like 85mm/1.4 ) for Four Thirds mount ?

Since this question is interesting to many Olympus and Panasonic DSLR users i will post your answer on Forums ( with your permissions  )
thank you .

The answer is:

Dear Mr. D.B.,

Thank you for your email today.

We do not have any plan to produce 85mm or 8mm fisheye lens for Four Thirds mount.
We share same optical part on 4 different mount types such as Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax. The size of their image sensors are almost same but 4/3 image sensor is smaller than others. It makes more narrow angle of view and less fisheye effect on 4/3 camera.

It is possible to make 4/3 mount but due to the above reason, we do not make one for 4/3.

Best regards

That’s it :(

(FT3) new Panasonic MicroFourThirds camera to be launched on February 2010

We received two new mails from new sources. Both messages do say that Panasonic will launch a new MicroFourThirds camera in February. It is very likely that the is going to be “upgraded”. Also a new generation of Panasonic sensors should be used for the camera.

(FT2) It is rumored that the camera will be the “GH5” and use a new 12 Megapixel sensor. 24Mbit/s video compression should also be one of the upgraded features.

No specific details are available yet.

(FT4) What we already know is that on February Panasonic will launch new lenses!

Poll evaluation “What we want from Panasonic and Olympus”

We closed our poll. We had over 2.100 unique voters. Every person had three votes. 29% of the voters came from US, 34% from Europe, 23% from Japan and 14% from other regions.

What do we learn from the poll results?

1) It came with no surprises that people needs prime lenses (and possibly fast lenses!). Almost half of the voters voted for it!

2) The first surprise came on position three: 28% of the voters wants a camera with built-in electronic viewfinder (rangefinder look!)

3) 26% of the voters wants Olympus and Panasonic to continue the “classic” FourThirds line development. And many people (26%) is wants a High-End camera model that includes all the best features (wheatersealed body, fast autofocus and all the gimmics you need inside a High-End model).
Duarte (a 43rumors reader) added the following conclusion “The interesting issue here is that both of these groups are probably 4/3 hardcore users. The conclusion is that half of them are on jump ship mode (4/3 -> m4/3).

4) “Only” 14% needs a fullframe camera.

Feel free to add your considerations! Comment this post!

.

P.S.: I voted for my “monochrome sensor camera” option, and only 2% voted for my idea :)

The final results are here:

If the image quality is on top will you buy that lens?
