Fuji X100 Hands-on at Dpreview!

Dpreview posted a new Fuji X100 hands-on! And they were very impressed by the camera. They body quality of the working prototype is “absolutely superb“. But the most impressive thing about the X100 is “the way Fujifilm has managed to build a high quality EVF into a relatively compact body“. The hybrid EVF/OVF viewfinder gives “the best of both worlds“.
The X100 should be available in march for $1.200. Sadly both both Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here) do not accept preorders anymore! You can still sign up at Amazon (Click here) to be notified when it becomes available for preorder.

UPDATE
: There is one more hands-on at Akam.no!

There are three reasons why we talk about that camera on 43rumors:
1) Fuji is part of the Four Thirds product
2) We were told by an anonymous source that Fuji is getting help from one of the current Micro Four Thirds members (which is making some part of the cameras).
3) Because many 43rumors readers do like innovative concepts and well made cameras and I hope Panasonic/Olympus will take notice of our interest to make a [shoplink 17020]DMC-LC1[/shoplink] or [shoplink 17129]Olympus 35RC[/shoplink] version fo the X100 (of course with interchangeable lenses!) :)

Olympus E-PL2 in Stock in Europe (+ Kirk’s Definitive Opinion about the E-PL2)

Olympus is much faster than Panasonic in making announced products available in stores. Three weeks after the announcement many european stores do have the E-PL2 in Stock! Click the shop links to visit the shop links:
Germany -> Amazon.de, eBay.de
France -> Amazon.fr (available next week), Pixmania.fr (available next week), eBay.fr

Kirk Tuck posted his final view over the new Olympus E-PL2: “While I like the EP2 I find that the real reason to want the EPL2 is its sheer stealth. The matte black finish is less showy and more businesslike. The lines of the design serve to visually reduce it’s profile. It fits in my hand with very little to spare around the edges and when I wear it against my chest on a black sweat shirt its aspect nearly vanishes. I can barely feel its weight on the strap. Little more than the premium compacts in size and weight and price but a huge step up in performance. At $599 it’s hard to make a case against it.” Please visit his website to read the very long article!

Philip Bloom posted a new [shoplink 16841]AG-AF100[/shoplink] video he has taken with 3 awesome and expensive lenses and the cheap [shoplink 18603]SLR Magic Toy Lens[/shoplink]. But he also added this nice audio track you can listen. I embedded both inside that post but I also suggest you to visit his website to read the full article and see some backstage pictures.

Very detailed Olympus E-PL2 review at digitalcamerainfo

[shoplink 18844][/shoplink]

Digitalcamerainfo tested the new Olympus E-PL2. It’s a very long review so be sure to have enough time to read it all! They also compared the E-PL2 with the older E-PL1 and yes there seems to be a difference between the two cameras: “Our tests so far show that the color performance of the E-PL2 is relatively unchanged, but the noise performance seems to have been improved slightly.

A first short user report has been written inside the “Just bought Olympus E-PL2!!! WOW! oh WOW!” forum post at Serious compacts. The title says it all ;)

And to conclude, dcresource posted a bunch of new test shots taken with the E-PL2.

GH2, GF2, G2 and AG-AF100 reviews

The Whistle Bait. Panasonic AF100 PL Mount, GH2, 5D, 7D. From Chris Marino on Vimeo.

We found plenty of new Panasonic Micro Four Thirds camera reviews. Here is the list:

Ganref made a very cool and detailed GH2 vs GH1 vs G2 ISO and resolution comparison. The GH2 shows clearly more resolution but ISO noise is almost equal to the other cameras.

SteveHuff posted a “GH2 Guest review” written by Amy Medina.

M43photo shows how magnified focus with legacy lenses works on the GH2

There are two non-english GF2 tests. One at DCview and one at Focus Numerique.

And for the category “better late than never”: Panasonic G2 review at Quesabesde (Click here to read the google english translation).

(UPDATED) First Olympus XZ-1 review by DSLRmagazine (spanish)

DSLRmagazine is the very first website to post an Olympus XZ-1 review (Click here to read the google english translated text). They made a very detailed and accurate test. Those are a few interesting discoveries:

– The lens resolution is very high at 28mm and wide open (f/1.8)! Resolution decreases on the tele end.
– Moderate distorion at 28mm
– Moderate Vignetting at 28mm and f/1.8
– Very good autofocus and metering!
– Veyr good image quality up to ISO 800.

All in all a very good camera that is on par (if not slightly better) than the competition ([shoplink 17288]Panasonic LX5[/shoplink], Samsung EX1 and Canon S95)

UPDATE: pcpop posted a XZ-1 review with many image samples.

Olympus XZ-1 preorders at Amazon, Adorama, Amazon Deutschland, Amazon France and Amazon UK.
